Ye Olde Sweet Shop

There used to be a shop in the village that I used to live in that sold sweets out of jars. The shopkeeper used to wear a brown coat ala Arkwright in Open All Hours, we mostly used to order a quarter of something off the top shelf, when he had put his ladder away and weighed them out we would asked for a quarter of something from the jar that was right next to the first one |

The last time and place I seen an oldie type sweet shop with the front counter and back wall stacked with jars of all the types of sweets mentioned, was down in Blackpool a few years back. It was like being a kid again unable to decide what to buy. |

Fruit jellies for me
While I'm here... any under the counter Spanish Gold, I reckon that would be 10.20 friendly tuck shop time.

I went to the oldest sweet shop in England last week, lovely little shop in Pately Bridge. I got some salted liquorice gums which were unusually very nice. |

Rola Cola balls
Lemon sherbets
Strawberries and Cream
Rhubarb and Custard
Sherbet pips
Aniseed twists
Just one quarter bag of each obviously. I'm not greedy |
