Imagine anyone else introducing themselves like James Bond does, the names Stuart, Stuart (insert generic surname here), you wouldn’t get away with it, everyone would look at each saying what’s up with this guy, he really thinks he’s something and that’s why I’ve never seen a James Bond film.

I just don't get James Bond ,regardless off who plays him,the story line is pretty much the same,he fights the baddies and always wins ,yawn, just my humble opinion though

Daniel Craig will be a hard act to follow for sure, love Tom Hardy, but not sure if he can cut it as

Bond, he may surprise us

Bond was never meant to be a suave sophisticated character....He was meant to be rough and ready with an evil streak but the filmakers said he needed to be softened.

The Broccoli family were reported as saying Craigs portrayal was exactly how Bond should of been.

I always fancied Idris Elba as Bond, he has it all tbh

There is that! But isn't that all films these days? Rarely anything different, just depends what same you like... I prefer better action movies than JB though tbh

Yay

The producers wanted Bond to go back to being more 'rough and ready' with Craig, as opposed to Moore, Dalton, Brosnan - all too smooth.

Think Hardy would be fantastic.

Hardy a big yes from me - he can do charm laid over a framework of "could clearly snap your neck without a second thought" which is what Bond should be.

An iron fist in a velvet glove.

Very rough and ready pouting all over the place!

And they only went rough and ready because of the far superior (than Daniel Craig's bond's) Jason Bourne movies.

Is Tom Hardy not a bit old for it though? Hes 43 or so, and he'll be too old (50?) after 2-3 films. Maybe they should be looking for someone mid 30s? Idris Elba's even older. Henry Cavill's 37 so would last a lot longer, but can we unsee him as superman now?

Feel like I'm the only person in existence who never fancied Idris as Bond. A hyped up TV BBC drama actor, nothing more

Hardy COULD be brilliant as Bond, if the rumours are true. But it's all down to the director and the screenplays etc. Look at how Quantum of Solace and Spectre failed.

He's the best out of the bunch put forward in my eyes

Hyped up BBC drama actor! Even though those performances were winning him golden globes and primetime Emmy nominations.

Roger Moore started as bond at the age of 45. The oldest of any of the actors.

Daniel Craig started at the age of 36. He's now 52.

Idris is 48.

Tom Hardy is 43.

Idris is a lot closer to retirement age than Tom. And has arguably less celebrated film appearances/awards than Tom.

Without addressing the elephant in the room as to why so many people wanted Idris to be Bond, he's simply not the ideal replacement. He should go and make a new series of Poldark or something

It usually is - generally someone you've not heard of, or a can only name a film or two. The only film that I knew of Craig's pre-Bond was Layer Cake, and Brosnan was just the guy from Remmington Steele.

The closest Bond to the books was Dalton. Just watch the whole Berlin sequence at the beginning of The Living Daylights – it's *the* most faithful screen adaptation of Fleming.

(Best theme song, best car and best Moneypenny as well, but that's a different conversation.)

Tbh, I have never read the books but Dalton was definitely my favourite Bond and most how I thought he should be, despite fancying the arse off of Connery

If the scripts arent improved and the series isn't dragged out of the 20th century then it doesn't matter who's Bond.
