Dermarolling/other loose skin treatments

So it's happening... I'm 38lbs into my weight loss, which is great but I still have a looooooong way to go (ideally around 150lbs) and I'm ALREADY noticing loose, sagging skin, especially around my boobs and underarms. I have tried all sorts of tightening/fading creams back when I was trying to fade my puberty and weight gain stretch marks and none of them worked, although have seen some anecdotal evidence of derma rolling being an effective tool as it essentially punctures the skin, thereby forcing your body to produce collagen in order to heal it and plumping it back up. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this, or other, effective treatments for loose skin? I know it's early to be thinking about this and of course my number one focus is the weight loss and getting healthy but I would rather tackle the problem as it's happening than wait until the end when it's at its worst.

Also please don't recommend surgery. I a) don't want and b) can't afford it

you can get collagen supplements and ive also heard bone broth is supposed to be excellent for loose skin. How effective it is i do not know. I just saw it being mentioned quite regularly in an intermittent fasting group im part of. Congrats on your journey so far xxxx

Watch a programme that went out last week about plastic surgery alternatives - I think it was on Channel 4 and they used real people to trial all the alternatives - none of them were worth the money.

I was taking biotin and collagen peptides up until recently for my hair and I am not 100% sure it made much of a difference... Might try the bone broth though, thanks

What kind of treatments did they feature?

I took some notes Lol as I have lost 4 stone so personally interested:

CO2 Lazer

Microneedling

Collagen Drink

Botox

Fat Cell Transfer

They were all for the face and they took special pictures before and after to measure the affects. Although some of the users said they could see a small difference the machines that took the ex ray pics showed no difference.

From the research I have done if you are mature, post menopause and have yo yoed weight loss for years like I have it will only shrink lose skin a small amount. I had Bariatric surgery to achieve my weight loss and have just over 1 stone to get to my target, which still allows me to be curvy. I went to a fantastic hospital in Instanbul for my surgery and will be returning next year to have a « mummy makeover » to tighten mine up.

Yeah that's the thing... I'm not sure if I'm gonna have kids yet and don't want to shell out £££££ for surgery when it might get stretched out again lol

Ah okay, I'm not really worried about my face tbh. That's annoying that microneedling didn't work though as I thought it might be my saving grace haha.

Well done on your weight loss and good luck with your surgery

Thanks - I had the surgery mostly due to problems with my knees - last year I had pain from them every day and I didn’t have arthritis. I ended up doing less and less and decided that I needed to take some drastic measures. So glad I did as it has made a huge difference.

You have done fantastically with your weight loss - if you are still young you can make some differences to the skin by strict dieting and exercise but it’s very difficult when you are older as I am because the collagen levels deplete very quickly.
