Ah ha! My sort of thread
A good question indeed; I very much like the portable ease and commendable suction power of Henry vacuums.
It even has a face on it which immediately lifts ones mood and renders hoovering an altogether more joyfully spirited task - what more could one ask for? |

"I keep hearing great things about Shark vacuums also but have yet to purchase one
Shark has headlight like old hoover ones, late night sesh in dark lol"
A light you say? That’s definitely sold it for me - anything with led’s on it and I’m attracted to it like a moth to a flame; Shark vacuum - here I come! |

You're so right, the name, the face, really long lasting as well god knows how long my Henry lasted. I actually enjoy hoovering these days, it's not up there with golf or the gym, but I do it a few times a day now, maybe I'm mental. |

I find hoovering quite therapeutic to; I think there may be a science behind it - the continual ‘hum’ of the motor coupled with the gentle pushing and pulling motions actually serve to induce a relaxed state of sorts.
We should set up a hoovering fan site |

Yeah there's definitely something to it. When I was a cleaner, roughly 3 of the 8 hours was hoovering, went so quick, a completely clear mind, almost a meditation. Might have to browse Shark later. |

Shark powered lift away anti hair wrap is a beast. I’ve spent decades cutting my daughters bum length hair from the crappy Dyson rollers so this is like a miracle. It’s also grey and rose gold so it’s pretty too which sold it even more |

We destroyed a Dyson and a Vax before we succumbed to Henry’s charming smile.
We have a Roomba for the daily touch up which has the added benefit of discouraging reckless Lego abandonment. |

When they put LED's and faces on the front, I'm like "it's not a fucking car ffs, it's a vacuum cleaner, and isn't that using valuable energy that the piss poor motor might otherwise exploit....". Next they'll have cruise fucking control! |

I'm aware LED's use next to nothing, but it's the principal! Why put them there, I don't vacuum in the dark! Next they'll come with low energy night vision....! |

I've got a George; had it 29 years and it's still going strong. It's now in my shed and used for cleaning up the fallout from my DIY projects; everything from saw dust, sand, gravel, bricks, the lot. I love it! |

I have two dysons and they’re my favourites just because I got them for free from friends and family and repaired them. So they cost a few cheap parts. Not convinced they’ll last forever and frankly one of them is just not a great vacuum cleaner, but hey - practically free!!
Looking at shark ones now thanks to this! |

I have 2 Dysons, an upright workhorse and a handheld for a quick scoot around. Works well for me, decent filters and last a long time, good value for money.
I cant justify a Shark, but that would be my next choice.
Henrys dont block because they have simple filters, thats why builders like them so much.
Meile Cat and Dog isnt too bad but my Dyson is still better. |

Ours “Blows” twice a year, absolute nightmare but we still love him.
We did burn a motor out after about 18mnths & it comes as a central unit housing for about £75, But the spares service is brilliant, probably our fault for not cleaning all the filters often enough to be fair.

We have 3 vaccums, two meile ones for pets, only reason we got two, was once upon a time, when partner was staying over at mine, we got a call from her daughter, saying she had too many rice crispies and was sick on the rug. (seen the change in partners face at this point). Her daughter then explained, it's okay, she hoovered it up!!
So obviously had to go get a new one?!
Then we got a shark hoover, again one for pets, and probably best vaccum imo |

We've had our Vax for about 4-5yrs, never broken down, never needed spares and still top notch. Only cost about £90 new too. |

Eddie....... it's destiny! I had both the DC01 and the DC07 in my accessible loft but I traded the 01 in for a big chunka money off an animal .... broke me to let it go. 07 weighs a ton but you could sweep the streets with it. It's amazing..... |

Have a corded Dyson for day to day in the house and it's really very good. But for ultimate use and abuse for DIY and cleaning the car it's Henry that really shines. Takes the knocks and never fails and even gives you a smile |

"After much research, we actually bought a Miele hoover and it's still fantastic 10 years later.
It has out-lived and out-suctioned our previous Vax and Dyson. x"
The most dependable of suckers is the Miele, say what you will but German engineering. |

Corded - Henry definitely good and used in our office but for the house a German Sebo is definitely at the top.
Cordless - the Shark performs in our house and is so effortless to use. Tip - get two batteries.
If money no object then the US made Kirby is amazing. It will suck powerfully for years and bizarrely it has both a grinder and drill attachments to make it attractive to the DIY enthusiast. What’s not to like! |

We have a Dyson and it’s terrible. If I wasnt an aircraft engineer and able to constantly unblock it I would have binned it years ago. Despite constant maintenance and filter cleaning it just makes a lot of noise and struggles to pick up big heavy objects likes leaves and feathers. I keep meaning to bin it but every time I see the price of new ones I change my mind! |

Sebo for all over hoovering. It’s the best commercial grade for home use.
Dyson Gen5 cordless for quick, powerful suction power but can’t do an entire level in my house with it.
Electrolux cordless that I’ve had for ten years is good for quick hoovering. Similar to Dyson’s power but last longer between charge. |

I'm also thinking the same. The next one I'll get will have some carpet cleaning function. |
