We don’t belong there, sand gets everywhere, there’s jagged edges on the rocks for a reason, to keep us away and the things that live in the sea don’t want us in the sea, it’s got no Natural shade and the water is still freezing even at the height of Summer, but yah sand castles ?!

Plus the sand stick to the cream, always a good combo

Yep. Surrounded by people who seem to be enjoying themselves and I just sit there thinking 'What the fuck am I doing here?'

I always think it's one of those things where most don't really like it but feel they should.

Yes. I always wanted a bridge that would cross over to the sea

I softened to beaches in recent years though. Sand everywhere is irritating though.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I love the beach usually but there was one time I visited Southport beach and the wind suddenly blew up strong.

I was literally sand blasted! I swear I lost a few layers of flesh that day

Yep not a great lover of the beach because as a builder I used to just dig the kids holes or get that overwhelming feeling that I want to knock loads of muck up.

Don't like it in the summer, too many people and no shade for a ginger. But in the winter watching the waves crash during a bit of a storm can't beat it

I’m not a fan of the beach, I can’t stand sand. I’ve always said that if beaches were made of grass they’d be lovely.

Love it when you can't hear anything above the noise of the wind and waves. And seeing the waves crash against the rocks. Makes you feel in awe of nature's strength

I love being close to the sea, not necessarily on the beach if you know what I mean.

I like it in the winter too

There's a sort of quiet with nature's noise. Like the first rumble of thunder and everything else is still - just waiting for the flash of lightning.

Yep I’ve lived by a beach since I was 14 and probably been a handful of times. Hate it sand hate the noise hate the crowds seagulls the inconvenience of it all. I don’t mind it at night on a rare occasion but yep not a fan.

Cheshire

One of my happiest running moments on the beach, my wife (at the time) father in law and myself. We were on holiday, first thing in the morning out to the beach which was deserted, ran in the surf up to some boards when we turned around we couldn’t remember what point we had come on to the beach. So we just ran until we found a path.

After speaking to a local we were 5 or 6km away from the camp, so an easy 10k run was closer to 10 miles (not too bad as training for a marathon at the time)

The perfect beach is on moreton island, just off the Aussie coast near Brisbane.

Otherwise I like winter beaches.

Ha ha - I was just thinking the same - beach is fine, if all the other c*nts would just go home - "of course I want to listen to your music...you have such good taste"..."of course I want all my clothes to smell of your portable barbecue which appears to run on old bits of tyre"..."and I love your complete disregard for anyone else's personal space"

Sublimity.

Just you alone with the elements knowing that at any moment it could just snuff you out.

Yep, Nice to go to secluded ones for a bit of shell hunting & rock pooling (Went to Borth earlier in the week) but we are more hills & walking boots but even then we stay away from the obvious busy places. Plenty of desolate walks to be had in the Cambrians & it’s one of the reasons we moved to live on them.

Our worst nightmare is a beach holiday, went to Greece for our honeymoon & spent the days on a hire XT660 visiting the historical sites. I think we spent one afternoon sunbathing in two weeks.

I love the sea, the sound and smell of it. Combine that with cliffs and wind, maybe a storm.

Having said that I'd rather laze at a pool, next to a bar x

Beaches in Northumberland are amongst the most beautiful worldwide. I've holidayed there a few times... It's not the sunniest coast tho ..... but so beautiful.
