Yes or no ?

I love them during the warmer months, no cooking, quick, less washing up so what's not to like.

Looking for ideas to try so if anyone has any alternatives to the ploughmans lunch type salad I'm all ears

Tuna is my usual go to and yes I appreciate that's not a ploughmans

I use filled meat and salad tortilla boats as something different to bread as its less stodgy in the heat

I like to use a wholemeal wrap with king prawns, avocado, salad and mayonnaise.

Happy to eat that any time of year

I love salads Sam.

Lettuce, Tomato , cucumber is the boring staple that puts people off.

I like to chop them very small and mix them up in a bowl then I add all sorts.

For a really good salad boil some quinoa the night before so that you can add it cold. The amount is so that you are eating salad with bits in ......not so that the quinoa takes over.

I put on artichokes ( home bargains not waitrose unelss you are loaded ) I put on sun dried tomatoes, edmame beans, jarred peppers even if I've got fresh ones cos they are flavoursome.

Sometimes I put sliced spud and beetroot in.

Other times I cover them in seeds.

There's always a dressing , usually oil based.

I never tire of mixing it up ........ delish.

I do like a nice refreshing salad. Lettuce, spinach and rocket and peeled apple, then a salad of tomato, onion and cucumber? Dressing of choice, then some pickle, tahini, houmous? I agree with the tortilla as well, especially in this heat

Spring onions..... how could I forget.

Little tip ..... I do mine like this ....

Take one spring onion. Remove roots and very top of green tips. maybe the outer green leaf if its limp.

Take sharp knife go straight down the middle. Roll over ( the onion not you ) and do that again. Then make little cuts across all the way up.

Lots of bits of onion to scatter through your salad.

I'm not fussed on getting a fookin' big chunk of onion while im eating.

Sounds bizarre but I make salad cakes! Yes cakes!

High sided quick release cake tin. Line the bottom and sides with bread. Layer up with salad ingredients - shredded lettuce, cucumber, raddishes, boiled egg, grated cheese, greater carrots, few strawberries etc - until it fills the tin. Finish with bread to cover the top. Add a plate and weight it down. Place in the fridge for a few hours

Release onto a plate and cover with cream cheese and decorate ( cress, flowers, grated carrot etc)

Looks stunning at the table - slice and eat!

I like small individual salads like courgette ribbons with very thinly sliced onions in a dressing or grated carrot and apple or baby spinach with tomatoes. For bigger salads I like to add finely duced pickled vegetables to just about any combination of other vegetables. Don't be afraid to cook some of the stuff and let it cool, runner beans aren't very nice raw but are lovely with tomatoes, olives and a bit of shredded iceberg.

I love salad

Chopped salad including onion then get some of them deli jars, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke, and peppers. Chop them up (what's in them, not the jars), add them in.

Do some bulgar wheat, add, stir through.

On a mooch

Everything needs to be crisp and cold...

Lettuce or mixed leaves, spinach, peppers, cucumber, celery, spring onion or red onion, bean shoots, new potatoes..... everything chopped small and tossed in either garlic olive oil or drizzled with honey & mustard dressing, cherry tomatoes (whole) added after.

I’ll either eat it on it’s own or with a wrap or alongside a piece of simple baked fish or grilled chicken

I use fresh herbs and baby spinach instead of lettuce.

Coriander, chives, lemon thyme, tarragon, mint, basil, oregano, celery leaves, anything to throw in and will add a taste explosion in your mouth. A splash of good quality olive oil, gin infused baby beets, olives, avocado, baby plum tomatoes, diced cucumber (deseeded), feta cheese ...mmmm

"Chopped salad including onion then get some of them deli jars, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke, and peppers. Chop them up (what's in them, not the jars), add them in.

Do some bulgar wheat, add, stir through.

Great on its own at lunch or a BBQ side.

Cough ! "

I'm surprised that the Scottish haven't got you deep frying your jello salad

"I use fresh herbs and baby spinach instead of lettuce.

Your salad sounds delicious! "

If you're gonna have one, have a good'un
