Eat out to help out

Anyone taken advantage of this offer yet?
They've certainly been taking more than advantage at my place, including filling a cool bag with our stock
Half price apparently means they only need to treat the place with half the respect too.
Don't get me wrong, had a fair few nice peeps, but my goodness, was like feeding time at the zoo, with probably more mess left |

"Personally I'm not sure if I'm comfortable going to a restaurant yet. "
Totally understandable.
I have obviously only been in one and we are strict as, so if everyone follows the rules you'll feel reassured and safe.
We turfed a few out yesterday for not being respectful of the rules. |

"There are a few local small businesses I'd like to support who are on the scheme. I'm considering it but there are also a number of drawbacks for me
I wouldn't just yet if I were you Swingy "
There's a local charity cafe for a community charity I'm involved in. I walk down a couple of times a week and buy some things because God knows they need the money. Chat to the staff - I knew them pretty well before this - if they're not busy. |

How did they take it? Did they go quietly? |

I can see my nearest from out my window. I'm not sure anyone there gives a fuck about the rules Unless the household outside most nights is 30+ people |

Nah, one delightful family stood outside swearing at loads of other people pretending they had tourettes, whilst the man paid the bill and sat at the table with his head in his hands mustering up the will to go and join them. He was clearly so embarrassed.
One I barred as they left coz I didn't want to kick up a fuss, but what they were doing was returning time and time again to get salad and pasta top ups without asking me first (I have to take them when it's safe to do so)
Anyway, I heard a popping noise upon returning to the table. It was the lid on the tupperware container being closed. Yep, had their own food storage and cool bag hidden under the table to basically steal our stock!
I appreciated they may be really struggling, so had a quiet word as they left.

We're going for a mid week break this month and will be having breakfast, dinner and possibly lunch in the hotel restaurant. They're doing the eat out to help out thing and we're happy with the precautions they have in place. |

I'd not let them back in. |

Not yet no. I've a table booked at Hawksmoor and also one at this brilliant localish independent restaurant that does these incredible massive toasted cheese sandwiches . I'm going to decide this weekend if I'm going, I do think both the aforementioned will be shit hot when it comes to social distancing etc. |

I went to a nearby gastro pub on Monday. The measures they had in place were very good - tables spaced apart, hand-wash dotted about, clear signage telling people to wait to be seated, table service only etc. Lots of cleaning going on. I felt completely safe.
They had a reduced menu and the food wasn't up to their usual standard, but I don't think that's anything to do with covid. Couldn't fault the service. |

Not been to a restaurant or a, pub yet. Won't be going to pub anytime soon at all (didn't frequent them much before), but I have missed going for a decent meal and couple drinks, not sure if I will be in near future, depends on the establishment and how they are running things. |

I just don't see how anywhere can't be shit hot. You have to have all new risk assessments and table layouts. If anyone goes somewhere that isn't following the guidelines then report it, please.
Now, tables CAN be closer than 1.5 metres but ONLY if the chairs are back to back.
I'd much rather people reported offending establishments and they got closed down individually than the industry as a whole getting blamed for not caring and us all being closed. |

"Not yet my fabulous little friend.
I might book your place and ask you out for a treat so we can show people how the civilised society do it "
Oooohhh that would be banging!
I would suggest Miller & Carter rather than mine but I think they're all pretty much full for the whole of August.
We'd get staff discount too on top of gov one, so an 83% total discount |

Yes! As you know I know all about the new regulations, the joyous risk assessments that places have to carry out. If you don't feel comfortable eating out, fair enough. You do you. I'm going to take the sensible, necessary precautions I have been doing all during lockdown and support the hospitality industry once more. |

Anywhere worth anything will happily talk and walk you through the safety measures. We appreciate people are still nervous, and in fact we want them to be in some respect. Those who aren't nervous to some extent are the ones who don't listen and think they know best! |

Oh Meli
I'm already pleased for the places you're gonna visit, as the staff will have a dream customer in you |

Yeah, I totally understand, my local pubs haven't been too bad, but at same time, far from perfect, so personally wouldn't risk it. There is one or two restaurants I'd go to once I knew how they were running things (I don't mean that as in, I know better sort of way) capacity levels etc, as it's more other customers that I'd be concerned about rather than the actual establishment and their staff. As someone who has worked in hospitality for a number of years, I also know how tough it can be at times for business owners and staff dealing with public at best of times, never mind with all that is going on currently. |

"The whole family going tonight be we have worked the whole time as well .... "
I do hope you have a great and relaxing time.
Just out of curiosity, how big is the whole family? Sends a shock wave through me you see, as the largest table/group that can go out is limited to 8 |
