What are your favourite garden plants?
Generally, or a particular one flowering in your garden at the moment.
I like Roses, lavateras, Phloxes, hydrangeas, and have a nice Potentilla flowering in the garden at the moment. |

Tangutica - the bright yellow lantern flowers just cheer you up in Summer! The fluffy seed heads make me laugh too..
I collect Orchids now and again. They are so pretty & elegant (more of a house plant though....)
Always have herbs you can pick them to eat as you pass by : Mint varieties (Moroccan mint makes the best tea in my opinion); Rosemary; Chives. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I collect trees like oaks and Scotts pine. I have an olive and fruit trees. All from cuttings or saplings. I shape them.
Basicly most species of common trees and some exotic ones. (Juniper and maple are easy)
Scott's pine is my favourite. I am glad to have a cutting rooted into a sapling. |

Does anyone know where I can grab a "broad leaf field elm"
You will remember it from being a kid because of the huge leaves but they died in the 1990s
I have permission (by park ranger) to find one in rochdale if i can.
I wanted to do one from cuttings.
I have a small "giant serquoia" (redwood) near my home but I failed on taking cuttings. You need to get a crane or climb to the top to grab the top foliage for cuttings I think. |

"My giant gunnera. I have 3. Leaves are up to 4ft each so far but supposedly reach 6ft. Yes I've a good size garden.
Nice. Yeah, they're proper land of the giants style plants. "
Its turned into a very cool effect with the ferns too |

I took on an allotment at the start of lockdown - figured since everyone was retired...
My dad has always been enthusiastic about gardening - I realised I'd missed having green space & nature around me having grown up with an amazing garden (which I still sneak back to to steal cuttings from his plants).
I've no particular favourites, perhaps courgette flowers, which I plan to stuff & deep fry on tempura batter - heard good things about that.
I most enjoy the lush explosion of growth over the summer. The managers aren't so keen on the 's' but the life fills my heart. |

I’m lucky that my garden seems to grow plants well, however my dog loves to dig them up
I love lavender because it’s hardy and helps the bees. But my favourite plant is probably the magnolia, so pretty when it blooms but looks like a lovely leafy green plant at other times |

"Hard to choose as my gardens are stacked. My David Austin roses are looking incredible and my Bamboo is going nuts.
"
Be careful with bamboo I had a house where the bamboo took over the whole garden and killed everything else and then attempted to travel under the patio too, it can cause all sorts of structural damage |

My phlox is having an astonishing year. My first zinnia has been a revelation. The roses were good until the recent rain, and I've really enjoyed our sunflowers, can't wait to harvest some of the seeds. |

You're not wrong! I have to prune the rhizomes on a regular basis to control the bamboo running spread. |

I love rosemary, I have three large plants growing in their pots. I also keep kitchen herbs in my back garden, the oregano and the parsley are flowering and attract a lot of bees and butterflies. It is nice to have break, enjoy the sunshine and watch them buzzing around the white flowers. ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

My late mam's hosta. It is massive. Its in the same pot for years. Dies back to nothing over the winter and boy does it come back. I got my love of gardening off her and took a load of plants from her garden when she passed away.

This is the first year that I've really taken up gardening and I'm totally loving it.
I've got quite a few bedding plants in baskets and planters including geraniums, sufina, and lobelia, and loving them.
I've bought an Acer and some lavender and some other plants and I'm hoping they will all do well. My favourite's are actually succulents and cactus, and I've got a window ledge full of those and I tend very gently to them. |

"Honeysuckle, or my neighbour has some lovely lily's which smell amazing at the moment."
I love lilies but they are so toxic for cats so I can't have any.
Even just a bit of pollen can kill a cat. ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

My favourite it an Aktinidia Kolomikta ( New Zealand kiwi fruit) vine
In spring the leaves appear a lush lime green, as the weather warms the leaf tips turn white and around May into a fabulous fuschia pink. It’s a stunning plant.
I have all of my favs in my garden - lavender / hydrangea / bay trees / clematis / scabious / phormium / Pieris / rhododendrons / violets |

I'm with you there. I always have to research before getting new plants. |
