I remember it well
It only lasted one series as I recall though sadly.
Manimal was another classic from the same era.
I’d bring back Quantum Leap though - the ending absolutely sucked donkeys balls |

There and to the left a bit |
Was all about Gerry Anderson when I was growing up...so pick any one from:
Thunderbirds*
Captain Scarlet
Joe 90
Stingray
*we'll just pretend the recent abominable cartoon re-make and the film from a few years ago didn't happen |

"Mary, Mungo and Midge"
Basically every episode was the same, they went down the lift and they came back up the lift, with midge on mungos’ nose pressing the buttons.
I seem to remember it got alternated with Finger Bobs and Hectors House.

It was a little bit eh?. Last saw it when first broadcast (ahem) so from memory only... Sam leaps to a bar where he meets people from the journey and a mysterious barman, Sam realises he can finally control where he goes throughout his life so he fixes the few failings (notably best mate in vietnam) and then thinks about going home. Barman says - if you go home the loop closes and all your work will be undone, no worse than they were but not better. Or he can move on and they will remain improved (his purpose in each episode) but he will never go back to his life (where next is unclear). He chooses to go forward. As he disappears in sparkles, Barman wishes him goodbye with "God Bless, Sam Becket" with the pause suggesting he (barman) is God - the ultimate leaper. |

The story goes that as the series was unexpectedly cancelled, a final episode was rushed out culminating in, wait for it......some text on the screen stating that Sam never got home(!!!!)
What a slap in the face for the fans
Scott Bakula has said that he would love to return to the series but as of yet, there are still no official plans that it will ever come back |

I thought it was quite sweet that Sam fixed it for Al to have a good life but that final bit of abrupt text on the screen in the hurried finale - Argh!!! Seven years of avid viewing for that reward |

Another classic: Ivor The Engine.
Unfortunately, it would probably be deemed both environmentally unsound and indeed a violation of animal rights to power a steam train with dragons nowadays though..... |

I took the very ending as required to state that he hadn't gone home. Didn't many episodes end with a teaser of the next leap (the "Ohh boy" moment)? It wasn't clear if he would leap at all - just go somewhere new NOT in his timeline (Heaven?) Fading to nothing would have been ambiguous, and only the text tells you his choice - his sacrifice of his own life for all theirs (hence dual meaning of God Bless Sam Beckett). This is all from memory. Hopefully not gross revisionism on my part to hide the pain!

I think you’ve provided a brilliant explanation in fact
It’s such a shame it had to end; it was very much ahead of it’s time to, boasting some brave and highly commendable episodes such as the one depicting the prejudice as was experienced by Sam when he leapt into the body of a young man with Downs Syndrome.
Scott Bakula’s been in many shows and films since but he will always be Dr Samuel Beckett for me |

Different world, if something comes on now you don't like you can choose from hundreds of different channels or stream something. Off to shout at clouds. |
