"If I stare at them they trigger my trypophobia. I prefer a muffin to a crumpet. Are there any other suggestions of what to put on them besides butter? "
You can put anything on them. Especially if you're going down the muffin route x |

Going to treat myself to crumpets for breakfast, funnily enough...
Lots of butter and honey this time, but agree with most of the suggestions on here depending on mood.
If feeling really decadent, cashew nut butter and something sweet like honey is amazing! |

M&S 5 grain crumpets. They'll ruin you for all other crumpets.
I'll have lime marmalade on them, or beans, or pate, or scrambled egg and smoked salmon, or fish paste, or nutella, or smashed banana, or avocado and crispy oversalted bacon, or tinned tomatoes, or... well, pretty much anything. |

Every single one of them sounds sh1t tbh but I don’t shop at m&s. I like my warbies crumpets from co op with my Aldi salted butter. |

How could anyone forget about crumpets?
Does anyone remember the crumpet shortage crisis of 2018? |

"Just butter, but the crumpets have to be toasted to the precise level of toastedness
Well done and crispy for me
I don't share food. Just saying"
I like the bottom to be toasted enough to be crispy but the top slightly less so. Has to be good butter. Oh & they absolutely have to be devoured whilst still warm.

I've worked for two of the Ammonia companies who caused that shortage. I'm trying to think there isn't a pattern there, but facts are facts. |

Depends how much I’ve had to drink. If I come home pissed, make a crumpet and fall asleep eating it, I’m still going to finish it in the morning and eat anything else in sight as I’m a hungry hungovererer |

I kept all the crumpets for myself, it's true. I sat on my crumpet throne in my crumpet palace looking down on all the crumpetless.
It was all fun and games until they didn't have the CO2 for the draught lager and the world cup was on |

"Someone once said on this forum that there is such a thing a a
'crumpet loaf'
Can you imagine such a thing "
CRUMPET LOAF! It is a real thing, a wonderful man once told me where to get some and I bought it a "few" times and it's so delicious. Crumpet loaf toasted with cheese and slightly salted good butter and maybe some avocado or a chilli finely chopped. |

Haven’t been on for a few weeks, looked at the threads I had commented on, and yet again, I instantly want a crispy crumpet with proper salted butter but I only do my big weekly shop tomorrow so I am crumpetless |

Crumpet loaf is amazing. I’d go as far as to say it is better than the real thing from Greenhaulghs. And their potato cakes are just off the scale. Yuuum |

"Butter. Lots of it.
I want one now.
Same here, I wasn’t in bed I’d have one lol"
How did I not see this until 2 weeks later?!
The thought of delivering you a buttery crumpet (spoken in a Greg Wallace voice) in bed is very erotic! |

How weird, I bought some today after not having any for a while!
Only Warburtons will do! I let them cool down a little before adding butter (otherwise the butter melts straight in and they go soggy), and then a bit of honey.
Delightful little treat.
Also they are good with beans or a poached egg. |

Erm I didn't say I liked unmelted butter lol.
Some has to be melted, but then I like to see some butter on top as well mixed with the honey.
If you have beans then it all just blends in anyway.
