I've probably asked this before. I've got a glut of cucumbers, the neighbours won't take them because of corona. Any ideas (that don't involve jokes about nuns doing press ups) of how I can use them. They aren't the pickling type and I don't have the ingredients anyway.

"Have you tried making a soup out of them? Not sure if you can freeze the soup after making though "
I haven't. I thought a gazpacho might be nice but I don't have the other ingredients. I might improvise a bit though. |

"They will brine well. Whole or big chunks into a jar, pack them in, pour over water, salt and leave.
There are some finer points but that's the basics. Have a YouTube gander."
Oh. Now I've never brained anything but that sounds like something that would work. |

"There must be some kind of facial product you can make at home , I imagine it’s a bit like aloe Vera and great for skin ? Certainly good on tired eyes "
I think it might have astringent qualities. I'll Google that. |

"You could make it into tzatziki then freeze that?
Great idea
They are early when did you plant the seeds ? "
Some time in march. They're super early. I can see four from here hanging down and when I search among the leaves there will be more. Under normal circumstances I'd give them to family and neighbours but I'm not seeing family as its too wet to sit on the garden and the neighbours are wary of accepting them in case I'm rabid |

Can you freeze it? That's a good idea. "
Yes it’s fine to freeze. Airtight container, then when you’re defrosting, take it out the night before and let it thaw. Don’t defrost in the microwave |

Build a replica angel of the north statue.
It’ll look a bit strange at first but when they begin to rot it should turn a nice browny orange.
(I think she’s safe ground but if anyone does happen to be offended then you may have to take it down.) |

I gently pickle them or stir fry them. Vietnamese cooking, we love cucumber. Cover salmon with it. Make Indian poppadom condiment. Delicious |

Make jam or jelly with them. Cucumber and mint jam is lovely. As is cactus jam for those that have tried it. It's a bit hard to get it round here though. |

We brought cactus jam back from Spain. I'll look at a recipe for cucumber and mint. It might be nice with cold meat |

I googled some recipes. It's very moisturising and astringent apparently but quite messy |

Any struggling petting zoos or animal sanctuary that might take them?
We have a community fridge in our library there for anyone to use. I am always donating stuff to it when I have excess stuff |

"Do the neighbours who are scared of your cucumbers buy them from supermarkets or are they scared of all fresh products, whatever the source ? "
A lot of our neighbours have moved from big cities and they're highly suspicious of food direct from source. They are also suspicious that I might have covid19 |

"Pickle them.
Carol pickles loads of stuff now to throw into salads which works very well.
T" ,
I did!
They're very nice too. I put some garlic, mustard seeds and bay leaf in with vinegar and sugar.
There's another lot coming so I'll do them too. |

"If no one suggested it yet you could throw them on the motorway service carpark to help truck drivers to fuck their anuses. "
Strangely nobody has suggested this. I will certainly consider it because truck drivers need cucumbers too |
