Brighton

Hi guys,

Last few days have felt hammered .... fatigue, mussy feeling, itchy eyes, etc etc

Anyone else feeling the same..

Kicked my libido right into touch.

So frustrating as lockdown is winding down and so nice out.

Just want to enjoy the sunshine and not endure it.

Have been taking supermarket own brand antihistamines " loratadine" 10mg tabs not helping that much.

Any suggestions?

Yes its really popular over here maybe not so much in the mainland but you can get them online and lots of people wear them also eating local honey helps to if you like it

I’ve been busy attempting to break my own personal ‘Most hayfever induced sneezes in twenty four hours’ record.

I’m well on the way to.....

Tried every natural remedy there is through the years, only thing that works for me is double dosing (one in the morning, one at night) on cetirizine hydrochloride.

Triludan forte worked very well for me, but if you took it with certain fruit juices it gave you luver/kidney failure

I'm on fexofenadine for my allergies usually 2 a day during tree season. Thankfully I am ok with grass and flowers. Pineapple juice is naturally high in antihistamines also tonic water is good x

North west ish

Certirzine hydrochloride, nasal spary and eyedrops are the only thing that keeps mine under control. Has started earlier than usual tho for some reason.

2 anti histamines daily instead of one, mild steroid nasal spray, eye drops and eye mist. I’m at the point where nose bleeds are daily and I spend a lot of my time with a cold damp cloth over my eyes.

Barely any windows in house open and I stay inside as much as possible (not a problem for me as I burn easily anyway) there is what looks like to be injections that you can have which give you a more permanent solution, pricey but I’m starting to feel they might be worth it.

I get fexofenadine from my doc it's the only antihistamine that has ever worked for me. I have tried almost every other one including other prescription ones. I take one a day 2 when pollen is high and they are brilliant. I've had no reaction at all since I've been on them.

This, plus beconase and allergy eye drops.

Pollen is worse at night apparently so sleep with the window shut. Wash pollen off your hair and body before bed.

Mines been super bad this year that on an evening in bed I struggle breathing and have an itchy throat and eyeballs feel like lead weights in my head.

The only thing that slightly helps is double dosing cetirizine hydrochloride and a nasal spray of beclometazone. These are the generic ones you can buy and I recommend them to anyone, as the brands like piriton, beconaise etc cost more for less and have the same active ingredients in them.

Someone I know swears by deliberately getting nettle stings...he says he used to get really bad hayfever, but at the start of the season he puts shorts on and walks through a big nettle patch To be fair, I've never seen him showing any hayfever symptoms

Agree with all the above comments... plus Piriton and a decongestant tab x

My Mum swears by small dabs of vaseline around the outside of each nostril to trap particles.

I've been a hayfever sufferer since I was a kid. After many different prescription meds to tackle it, I found fexofenidine and beconase nasal spray to be the most effective for me. You need to start taking it early in the season so it's in your system before the season kicks in with force. I barely get symptoms these days.

antihistamines that make you feel sleepy – such as chlorphenamine (including Piriton), hydroxyzine and promethazine

non-drowsy antihistamines that are less likely to make you feel sleepy – such as cetirizine, fexofenadine and loratadine

you could also try sterimaer, which is a sea water based nasal spray to clear away the allergens from you nose.

L’boro/Ashby & Cheltenham

There’s 2 types of meds over the counter...loratidine and cetirazine (spelling?!) and I was told that your body will usually respond to one or other of them. But...it can change each year, or after several years. So try one for a week, then the other for a week, each year to see what’s best. And have a tablet every day to keep the levels in your bloodstream, not just on days when you feel itchy. Eye drops every day morning & night, shower after being in pollen. There’s a gel I use called haymax...smear it inside your nostrils and it catches some of pollen before you inhale it. And Luffa - a tincture from the health food shop. That’s my entire armoury!! And if you’re still suffering too much, go to the gp for stringer stuff. It has been crazy this week. Good luck...it’s a bummer.

Oh...and don’t have your tonsils out...I had that done in my 20s and got hayfever the very next year

I've been bad a while.....

Doctor gives me Acrivastine which is Benedryl but not the one a day ones as one a day simply isn't enough If it gets out of control then I have a Nasonex spray too.

The local honey thing is an expensive fallacy sadly.....

My son has tonsillitis several times a year but they are reticent to remove them these days as Tonsils are the first in line to stop infections etc so pollen would logically follow that too.....
