I visit but I always forget to arrange that cream tea social |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
One day we’ll get round to it. Work / life balance is all wrong. We should only have to work 2 days and have 5 days off. It is 2019 |

Since moving here, we've noticed a number of towns in Cornwall have one particular thing in common...
....everywhere seems to have a guy with a fully-tattooed head! And no, it's not the same one who just happens to be in the same places at the same time that we're there! |

Having travelled quite a bit around England and talking with a friend who travels extensively around England would say Cornwall is the most visibly tattooed county tbh |

I've certainly noticed lots of ladies with tattoos, especially on their legs, ankles and/or feet - the 'oddest' I've seen was in Bodmin, a blonde probably in her 20's, who had one leg almost completely covered, and absolutely nothing on the other! |

It's more of a central location to visit other places rather than a place to just stay on its own. We have ple ty of bnb, Premier Inn and travelodge here. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I live here.
Its always nice to walk down Charlestown and a few other places but apart from that all the beer is the same (all pubs in Cornwall are St. Austell Brewery pubs), theres nothing to eat but fish and chips (cornish pasties once you had one you dont want another one for sometime) and cream teas....they’re just nice cream teas nothing special.
Now when it comes to swinging, the nearest club is miles away, the nudist beach partying is in some fantasists imagination and there’s a handful of genuine ladies and couples that play so possibly the worst region for swinging. |

"I live here.
Now when it comes to swinging, the nearest club is miles away, the nudist beach partying is in some fantasists imagination and there’s a handful of genuine ladies and couples that play so possibly the worst region for swinging." |

Oddly I live in Cornwall and there's a hell of a lot of pubs not owned by st Austell brewery, and if all you can find to eat is pasties, fish and chips and average cream teas then you realy arent putting much effort into finding anything else |

Well, theres about 500 pubs in Cornwall, 300 of them are decent and 170 out of the decent ones are St Austell Brewery.
Where in Cornwall would you take a food connoisseur like myself for a gastronomically wow experience?
If you taste blindfolded* 5 different cream teas would you be able to tell the difference?
* I know there’re better things to do blindfolded |

id easily taste the difference between cream teas yes, and you cant be that much of a food connoisseur and not know where to already go for food in Cornwall.
Id suggest you try the Mariners in Rock, its one of those pubs that has nothing to do with St Austell Brewery.

I am a certified Sommelier.
Even if I dont practice this profession (my preference) I know more than your average food enthusiast about gourmet food and wine pairing.
I know the Mariner, very big menu and they should really use Kalamon olives instead of Giaraffa.
Furthermore, their EVOO has higher acidity than most good EVOOs.
But who am I to say, if you say its good its definitely is.
Oh....its still pub food... |

Oh dear I sense some cornish negativity here and some very ill informed wide sweeping generalisation luckily the gems are kept away from such negatitivties |

The only thing I miss about where we used to live - Milton Keynes, hence the 'MK' bit of my username - is that not only did I have a number of local playmates over the years, but that when I had the opportunities, I could travel in almost any direction to have fun further afield...
....it's a little more difficult here - in two-and-a-half years I've not yet found anyone local or visiting to play with; and on the couple of occasions when I could have travelled elsewhere, the closest offer I received was some 5-6 hour's drive east and northeast... |

Really depends what you're looking for, Newquay is better for nightlife. |
