We've replaced the old events system with a new Events + Meets pages.
The current Events pages suffered from events that weren't events, no ability to filter them based on where you are or who you're interested in. Plus, because we kept trying to remove the (100s) of events posted that were actually "looking for" ads, it was frustrating for those folks and there was an obvious demand for a "future meets" type setup.
The new pages allows you to add a future meet and specify what type of meet it is and who you want to meet. Once that date arrives your meet today flag will be set.
The new page also allows "organised events" to be listed (so club nights, organised socials and the like). You can only add an organised event if you've been on the site for over 6 weeks and if you've had 3 or more verified meets (we still count users who have verified you but left the site for this). We hope/expect that "Organised Events" will now be proper events and of a decent quality and meets will be listed in the correct place... but we shall see
To add a listing we require that the user has some form of verification (verified by others or photo-verified) and that they've been on the site for over 72hrs. We do this to try and stop spam and improve quality of meet posts.
You can view meets or organised events and filter based on your preferences e.g. if you're not interested in posts by tvs/single guys you can unselect those checkboxes and they're no longer shown.
Meets and events that you post will now also be shown on your profile page.
(Shortly they will show on the local/friends feeds pages too)
We've NOT imported existing events from the current system so if you have an event you might want to re-list it. The old events are still available to view through a link on the new pages.
You can still set and view meet today on the new pages too. To set a meet today just goto the Add a Meet page. It works same as at the moment.
Any and all feedback welcome! We'll be tweaking over the next few days.

"So if we decide we want to meet a coouple say a week on saturday,we can put it in the meets/events section?"
Yes. It's an alternative to updating your status/putting in your profile text (which you might do at the moment).

Just having a quick nosey at it on my phone... All looks good except that it only seems to list the next few weeks.. This is not ideal for many social events.
For example the Scotland area has a social planned for December and names are already down for it, mainly so people can plan hotels/fancy dress in plenty of time.
If the time in advance is a problem, and you don't want to risk too many fake events on there, how about extending the date range to 9 months but any even that's planned between 2 and 9 months ahead has to be approved by a mod?

"Its saying 209 couples are on Meet Today but when you go to the bottom of the page to look at any of the other 7 pages of entries it keeps only on page 1 "

One other bug ... if you in forums then post a message (i.e. the page i'm writing this post out on) the blue banner across the top still has [Meet Today and [Events] boxes to choose from .. not the new [Meets & Events] |

Have to agree with this, we want to re post our social on the 19th of june which was on the old events page but cant as the dates dont go that far ahead, this is a real problem for people who organise socials. |

Both these comments are noted. We've restricted meets to a couple of weeks ahead and Organised Events (like both of these socials) to 50 days ahead. We'll look at increasing that by a bit. We have to strike a compromise between what is realistic/relevant and allowing organised event organisers (!) time to rustle up interest etc.
We'll make the change tomorrow. Maybe 3 months would be reasonable?

sounds good to me, socials are alot of the time adverised in the forums anyway so if they are planned longer than 3 months ahead they can be advertised there.

real nice makes it far easier for genuine meets and other events.
only a slight suggestion, you can have tick boxes for only seeing posts by various genders, can the same be done for seeing posts for different areas.
other than that a great enhancement to a nice website
keep up the good work

We'll be moving "meet today" link so it's more obvious again. Lots of people are missing it. Our proposal is when you click "Meets and Events" is to show meets today button at top of the page, filter options for the meets list below and the add links also on that "meets homepage" - rather than going direct to the meets list.
If any of that made sense

Tried to add an even but it wouldn't let us. In the "Looking to meet:" section, we had MF Cpl ticked, but whenever we clicked on Add meet, it said we had to have at least one box ticked in the looking to meet section. |

We've made changes so that the initial link gets you to a page where "meet today" is now more obvious (again). You can then click through to the meet listings if you choose.
We'll be making some more tweaks today based on the feedback we've received

We've done this now. We've also made a change so users can't add an "Organised Event" that is 3 or less days away: These probably aren't organised and are best listed as a meet.

I'm liking the overall layout - however the description needs more characters.. 160 is not enough (16 10-letter words?) as got something going that basically new format only allows say top 3 of 10 lines.
PS - And like the fact the current/old Meet Today system is still preserved. |

How many characters were allowed to be entered under the old events section? only ask as majority we saw when ever looked were rarely more than a couple of lines? |

I've put the Pussy Posse Charity Bash in twice.
Twice it hasn't appeared. Where is it?
AND it's only 320 letters. Especially for the Posse, that detracts massively from what we try to achieve.
To be honest, MY opinion is that it's useless and I hate it.
Also, I had a look at it tonight and it's still bringing up all the gangbangs and meets tonight as people seem unable to stick their "Oh I'm bored lets advertise for a bi female to come to our hotel" in the right place. |

We'll have a look at why those haven't listed. We'll give events more space. And we'll be improving moderation on events to move non-events to the meets section.
Thanks for the feedback

Also.... in Firefox at least, we are getting a second set of "Prev" "Next" "1" "2" etc buttons on the right hand edge of the panel, not causing any errors that we can see but a little out of place. There is also a set at the top of the scroll panel as expected. |

Is there any chance the symbol/logo for a future event could be changed to be different to the Meet Today?
I had a future meet on and received loads of messages because I had a "Meet Today" on.
I didn't and received loads of grief because I took the time to explain it was a future meet - I know its the usual of people can't be bothered to read but may save confusion. |

I wanted to add a house party onto events which is where i have always posted it before however cause it was short notice only found out on the thursday that i could have one on the saturday i could not the first date it would allow me to post was for the sunday. Have you now got to post events at least 3 days prior. I have used the meet to date instead using the date but i feel people will miss out as most of the people coming to my parties look on events. |

We don't allow organised events to be listed that are within 3 days... because these are more likely to be meets than organised events (given organisation generally involves forward planning etc.).
If you know you're organising something just list early.
