The new forums are just that... new and still a work in progress, they are always open to ideas and suggestions on how to improve them.
These forums are for us, so we look to you for ideas, if you think of something, then please put the ideas here, they will always be looked at,..we dont say that we will impliment every idea you come up with, but if they have the best interest of forums in mind, your ideas may well be taken on board.

will the forums remain part of the main frame body, or will they be separate as before? reason being, i find the layout of the forum like this, hard to navigate, its hard to see new posts, you cant track your own posts and i think the older forum, was better for these reasons
sorry to sound negative, im very happy we have the forum back, and it wont stop me using it i dont think, but i do think it may reduce the posts and activity if left this way
sorry again to be down after you guys have done such great work, but its only my thought |

i thought it was hard work the first day, now i find it almost impossible as the post count grows,
its too hard to follow, you cant see the new posts, you cant easily find your own posts etc you can easily miss new posts and topics...
i know i said it wasnt bad enough to stop us using it, but i think it is.
gutted, as really used to enjoy the forums here in the old layout.
catch you all on the main site instead |

I totally agree........ I hate this.
Impossible to read, impossible to navigate.
Maybe the new owners could tell us why they found the need to mess about with a perfectly acceptable and easy to navigate style that worked for everyone that used to use the forums?
I'm sorry guys, but unless someone can give me a good reason to stay, I'm probably going. I HATE this new look. |

any site / forum can be hacked, but the latest phpbb forum is free, and very very secure, with free updates or you can buy vbulletin which is about the most secure but at a cost
very very few phpbb3 forums have been hacked though, and if the culprit was caught lkast time, i dont suppose its likely they would try again. |

I agree the old forums were better to work and read, but bear in mind these forums are still being worked on, and there is still much to do.
The way to change them is to make the suggestions that we want, and give it time to see how things work out.
Personaly, I am finding it hard to keep up with new posts, we are having to go through every thread on every subject to see if something new has been posted, as it gets busier many posts are being created at the same time, lack of `Edit` buttons are [ at the moment] giving problems, but I am sure that will not be for long,..and the fact that we cant reply to individuals by putting their post into your answer

The new forums are not in a logical order, new posts should come first, while I know that there is a link to take you to the latest post, all other forums post last post first.
On the PHPBB forums etc problem is this site is now on a Windows server using aspx as its scripting language and depending on who it is hosted with and whether it is on a dedicated server they many not have access to PHP.
If they had problem with hacking into the forum before moving to a Windows server is not the solution as windows servers have had a lot of security problems in the past. The linux/php solution just needs better programming skill to get it right and hack proof. |

Can we have the old phpbb forums back? i think there is enough feedback to show thats what really is wanted.
if it helps in any way, i can offer to help with the set up, or provide you with webspace free to host them
just be such a shame to see the forums die due to the layout and the possible loss of members |

my personal opinion is the site is good but its let down by a naff looking forum
I know we cant use html any more but how about letting us use BB code |

How do the ppl we reply to know the reply is for them when theres no "quote" or link to their post? Without it the forums don't flow.
Would it be possible to have a return to top/menu button at the bottom instead of having to go back up to the top.The longer the thread the longer this will take.
On the plus side its great not being logged out every 2 minutes, nice one, well done.
Finaly,as has been said, the old style forums were a lot easier on the eye and more user friendly.Maybe that was down to familiarity though.

Glad that the forums are back up and running, but to to be 100% honest I'm not at all impressed with the new layout. It falls way way short of the old ones, no post count, no edit facility, no logical and tidy layout, no colour - nothing really, it's just a bland list of nothingness - a bit like my shopping list. Sorry guys, you've done a mega brilliant job on the rest of the site, but the forums need to be looked at again in depth, in fact scrapped altogether and the old format brought back
As for the old forums being hacked .... well did that really happen ?? or did someone spill the beans that the site was being sold so the previous owners closed the forums to prevent any further 'letting the cat out of the bag' .... Makes you wonder dunnit ?? |

The forums are still a work in progress, and are being improved all the time, there will be lots of improvements, The owners are aware of many of the problems,.. just bear with them.
You might not know the owners of the site, but I am hoping that many of you will trust me not to fib with you...[now where are those smilies when you need one]

I don't think the NEW owners would fib to us, and I didn't see any suggestion that they would.
I was referring to the OLD owners..
Yes I know it is work in progress, but the format isn't going to change to the old style that everyone knows and loved ..
Yes Emotoicons - never there when you want one |

Any chance the server could automatically correct the appaling English on these boards?
And revert text speak to plain English for the 'old' amongst us?
I do so hate to try and read a forum post that is practically impossible to all but the under 20's and the idiotic! |

It all brings to mind the old,old saying "If it works, don't fix it". Surely once the new security was up and running the forums could have been reinstated as they were before, and we wouldn't have been waiting months either.Or is that just us technophobes being too simplistic?
However,as has been said, the new owners are doing a good job,its just the forums that need sorting, hopefuly without disappearing for another month or so too.

wont bug you with the layout issue which has been well documented ...but personally thankyou for leaving off the post count and subsequent badge of honour ...what was the point except to signify usage of an individual in a community based forum ...i found it hierarchical
keep up the great work

depends what there purpose is ...do you need to know how many times you post ? ...whereas newbies (whos opinion is as valid and welcomed after 1 day as someone who has posted for 2 years) are nervous to post a counter opinion with someone with a large post count.
A lot of people I spoke to on the old fabs would not use the forums as they got the impression they were cliquey.
Getting rid of this pointless ranking makes it more open, how many times did we have fractious debates about "percieved" cliques on here even a few months ago i remember them.
So can anyone tell me what is the point of knowing a Individuals post count except to imply your point of view is more valid,or taken more seriously ...?

There is only one reason that I can see the count being useful, and that I often found that new people often came to somone with a large count for advice,..assuming them to have been around for a while..lol
...you are right to name some of the bad points though,..there was somtimes a feeling of,..`you cant do much playing to have so many post`,... and in a way it did seperate us into almost two groups,..those who posted regular and were what we could discribe as the core of the forums,..and the others
So we are in two minds

I never thought that the old forums were cliquey....... after all, everyone was welcome to post and many of the 'now' regulars hadn't been posting long on the old forums.
I think what did p1ss off alot of the regular posters was the same old crap being posted time and time again by the 'newbies'. The usual whinging threads about no replies, no meets, bareback, chatroom bans blah blah
For an avid forums user, these posts would push more 'interesting' threads away to the next page and the forum banter and 'real' questions would not get answered.
I would love the post count back but maybe it could be counteracted by some Forum Stickies with big headlines stating..... ALL NEWBIES, PLEASE READ and asking them not to post the usual shite that gets everyone's backs up.
I know that newbies need to ask questions but the amount of threads about no replies was absolutely ridiculous.
I personally think that a Community help board (I think we have one now) is a brilliant idea for the more hardened swingers or for the hardened Fab users to help others on........... but.......why can't threads that have the words.. "replies", "bareback", "meets", "black", "clubs" (the list could be endless, I know) be held until the original post was checked by either Mods, owners or a trusted few regulars, thereby cutting down the amount of wimpering threads from Newbies and Singles and stop alot of the perceived clique and nastyness that plaqued the forums last time.
Maybe, when someone posts for the first time, there could be a page of regulations, frequently asked questions and do's and don'ts that they have to tick to say they have read, and this could be brought up before they can access the forums..... obviously for the first time only.
Just a thought.
Maddie ...... one of the ringleaders of the perceived clique

The post count is bullshit, so what if you've made 1 or 1000 posts ? At the end of the day, just lets have the old style forums back again ... a layout that we all love and understand
Remember
It don't mean thing if you aint got that swing, do whap do whap do whap ....... |

your right maddie ...a lot of boards have a FAQ or storage bin of useful threads which are repeated questions for newbies and a key word search engine ..and it is annoying if people ask a question that has been asked ad-nauseum .Maybe they just ask it as a way of making initial contact i dont know .
I did say perceived cliquey as i dont think it was\is... and you come across as a really friendly person.
however if people perceive it as that, cus they see people being shot down for asking novice questions by anyone with big post counts and a "rank"..it makes people think its an unfriendly place until your face fits ...
just my tuppence worth will shut up about it now lol
