Best verses in a song.
Here's mine what's yours.
If tomorrow is judgment day
And I’m standing on the front line
And the Lord asks me what I did with my life
I will say I spent it with you.
Whitney Houston.

Only last night I found myself lost
By the station called King's Cross
Dead and wounded on either side
You know it's only a matter of time
I've been good and I've been bad
I've been guilty of hanging around |

You make me tremble when your hand moves lower
(When you're in love)
You taste a little then you follow slower
(When you're in love)
Nature has a way of yielding treasure
Pleasure made for you

Some of the best lyrics ever written.
I don't understand
Why do I stress the man
When there's so many bigger things at hand?
We could've never had it all
We had to hit a wall
So this is inevitable withdrawal
Even if I stop wanting you
And perspective pushes through
I'll be some next man's other woman soon
I cannot play my self again
I should just be my own best friend
Not fuck myself in the head with stupid men

Well the sun's shining now on these green fields of France
The warm wind blows gently and the red poppies dance
The trenches have vanished long under the plough
No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now
But here in this graveyard it's still no man's land
The countless white crosses in mute witness stand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man
And the whole generation who were butchered and damned.
Eric Bogle: No man's land (aka the green fields of France).

Never thought it would happen to me and a girl from Clapham
Out on the windy common that night I aint forgotton
When she dealt out the rations
With some or other passions
I said, ' You are a lady'
Perhaps she said I maybe

She took me to her castle
I just couldnt believe my eyes
She had so many devices
Everything that money could buy
She said sign your name on the dotted line
The lights went out and nikki started to cry |

Of the same ilk..
"And the band played waltzing matilda"
2 songs that really hit hard of what it must have been like in WW1..
They are songs you listen to not hear them.. |

A great line from kate tempest “we die” is “ We die so the others can be born
We age so the others can be young
The point of life is live, love
If you can, then pass it on, right?
We die so the others can be born
We age so the others can be young
The point of life is live, love
If you can, then pass it on”
So beautiful
Also another hit of hers with awsome lyrics is People’s faces! So relevant in today’s world! Go listen to it! |

If I wake up in World War III
I see destruction and poverty
And I feel like I want to go home
It's okay if you're coming with me
'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us....

Strap-on Sally chased us down the alley we feared for our behinds
Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot they were sure to blow your mind Running so fast I can taste the past Oh take me home
Now we know where we're going baby we can lay back and enjoy the ride take in the sights and drown in our senses Love is the law so take me deep inside

The Pogues did a decent version of And the band played waltzing Mathilda (on Rum, sodomy and the lash) which was my introduction to Eric Bogle. Mary Black does a beautiful version of Bogle's My youngest son came home today. It's about the troubles over in NI. |

Don't worry about the future
Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing Bubble gum
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind
The kind that blindsides you at 4 p.m. On some idle Tuesday
