We've got, at most, two more games in this tournament. Enjoy every moment and appreciate a coach who has got almost everything out of a sometimes limited player base. |

Rumour had it that England were going to throw the game to finish 2nd thus avoid the possibility of meeting the ABs in the semis, fools thinking they could beat us in the quarters lmao. Hope the Aussies wipe the floor with them (providing we beat Uruguay of course) |

All blacks were cynical, tackling without the ball, lying offside at the ruck, hands in the ruck, Nigel could have and should have sent two of their players to the bin.
England will need to step up a gear, and I think they will do more than that, today they looked clinical, yes the bounce was with them, but I think they can beat the blacks.... now there’s a first, ME wanting England to win.... |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
They will need to pick up there game a lot to win the all blacks, they will need to be on top form and the all blacks off form |

Can anyone explain the new tackle laws? If a player bursts out of the maul bent over at the waste head first, how are you supposed to tackle that player?
Does one just step aside and let the player run past?
This is more like touch rugby for me. If you can duck into 15 tackles you could red card the entire opposing team.
Not too sure if I like the way rugby is going. |

Apparently Scott Williams....
They obviously feel they have adequate back row bench cover between Shingler and Cubby but are hanging on til the last minute to make a call on Foxy so using the squad place freed up by Navidi to fly out another centre just incase Foxy fails to make it |

In many ways it's what NZ fear the most - a less racist South Africa. |

I don't think it will be as one sided as people think but I think the ABs will win
Wales v SA will all depend on which Wales turns up. We have coasted through by the skin of our teeth so far so we have one huge performance in us |

No really you can relax. If the Springboks entered a baby seal clubbing competition with Garces reffing the baby seals would win.
The bokke have lost 9 out 10 games against him. They lost the game the moment the referee anouncement was made. The same team who absolutely monstered the Japanese were beaten by the Japanese using the same ref.
Despite the AB team only conceding one penalty in the first half of their opening game someone has compiled a video over 6 minutes long of all the things the AB team got away with. But hey this is just sour grapes he's a great ref (apparently).
It really doesn't matter who wins this "competition" it's a farce. |

But it's fine when he's considered to incompetent to ref Leinster vs Saracens?
Garce is not famous for being a good ref. He's famous for making sure the Springboks lose.
Springboks have never beaten the All Blacks under him. They have never beaten Wales under him. Hell, they haven't even beaten Japan under him.

But can you imagine losing to England in the final. Urgh
I don't think it will be as one sided as people think but I think the ABs will win
Wales v SA will all depend on which Wales turns up. We have coasted through by the skin of our teeth so far so we have one huge performance in us
It’s two huge performances we need to win the World Cup.....
A Wales England final would be a great achievement for the northern hemisphere sides, but I think that its going to be England V South Africa
Well lets hope we scrape through the semi final and keep the big shift for the final aye
You are pretty much guaranteed a place in the final. You can relax.
Doesn't work like that mate unfortunately lol
We go in as underdogs this time....I have everything crossed for us
No really you can relax.
Sour grapes indeed
Blaming a referee for a game that is still 4 days away
https://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/champions-cup/garces-in-shock-final-call-despite-semifinal-criticism-38052018.html
Don't worry the game is in the bag. I'm not even going to waste my time watching it. I'm going tanning "

Prepare to be happy then. This is like the remake of an old movie. The original actors were Australia and the star of the show in 2011 was Bryce Lawrence. Different team, different hitman, same plot.
I doubt they will change the ending.
??
Enjoy the game |

Unfortunately I will miss that game as I will be watching the football and the much anticipated South Wales derby. Come on Cardiff lol.
South Africa are looking good so it's going to be very tough. My fingers are crossed for us though. Come on Wales. Make us even prouder. |

The Welsh can always be proud. They play a good game win or lose.
Jake White said AWJ would lift the cup saying he was the most improved player he had ever seen.
I will be cheering for them with all my heart against the All Blacks.
The biggest factor that weighs against Wales is they never have the world's best and fairest ref on the field. |

I really wasn't going to watch this game because I felt that Garces was a gun pointed at the Springboks head. However after the English won last night the gun was turned 180 degrees.
I say this with the greatest respect. The fact remains that the last time Wales beat the AB team was a while back and they haven't had a good time on the injury front.
I hope that Wales play with the same heart, guts and determination on Friday. I think they deserve 3rd place. Fingers crossed that you get Barnes not Garces. |

Referee makes no difference
They are all professionals at the highest end of their jobs
The result of the 3rd place play offs doesn't matter to me the priority is to get what's left of the Ospreys home in 1 piece ready for the start of the Heineken cup. I would rather none of them played Friday and got an extra weeks rest |

Maybe so but Wayne Barnes vs New Zealand, Craig Joubert vs Scotland, Bryce Lawrence vs South Africa......
I think rugby is one of the most subjective games there is. Steve Walsh Jr who reffed many professional games internationally has admitted to bias against teams and players. So it does happen. |

Plan B was hold onto the ball, keep them tackling, the boks are big,big fellas and to keep getting up and tackle again takes it out of you. Wales are far fitter than many sides, and proved in the 6 nations that possession is king.
England will do that in the final and through my very gritted teeth I think they will win.
Friday is a pointless exercise, but I hope we make a game of it.

The Springbok game plan is not to have possession. They kick the ball to you and then run in between your players so that you can't offload to a person in a better position than you. Once you're isolated they turn you over. It's brutal, ugly and effective.
If you over commit to the ruck and maul they still have the backs to spank you.
If you try to turn it into a kicking game they have the guns for that too.
Their main weakness is out on the wings. Their drift defense is very susceptible to overlaps and cross kicks. |

Wales online is now reporting that Wales were robbed by Garces.
Considering that Springbok fans thought Garces was likely to blow in favour of Wales, but the tables turned when England beat the All Blacks it says two things.
One that there is a popular belief that Wotld Rugby use referees to influence results of games.
Two that the All Blacks prefer to play Wales to Springboks.
I personally find it strange that the most controversial referee possible is chosen for these games. |

my English friends think the cups in the bag. They may be right- if they played like they did against NZ you’d expect them to win by +20.
But rugby isn’t often like that. Pretty much this squad conceded nearly 40 points against Scotland , but , more relevantly, have both won and lost in competitive matches against Wales. Th e Boks game is brutally simple , as , let’s face it, is ours, and could be effective.
I’m not sure who I’ll be supporting tbh in that one. English fans are pretty much ok, but the commentators are unbearable.
As for us, while it would be lovely to beat NZ , it’s not going to happen. The last time they lost two in a row was 21 years ago. Their incentive to put in a performance is at least as great as ours, and as usual in world cups , we’re finishing with a third of our first choice players missing and some of the rest held together with string |
