With the upcoming Elvis convention in Porthcawl this weekend as mentioned in other threads in this Welsh section (apologies for joke re fitting in local chip shop re kirsty mccall song), it does raise the question, "was Elvis of Welsh descent.?".

The evidence...

1. Is surname presley derived from precelli mountains, that spread over the South cardigan North Pembrokeshire border.

2.the ancient Welsh tradition of giving a biblical name as a second name as in Aaron..

3.the Christian name of his parents Vernon and Gladys (the Welsh spelling).

4. Of all the ancient saints of the celtic Church, there is only one church dedicated to an celtic Saint... St Elvis and that church uniquely is located in the precelli mountains.

5. Like him or not he did have a good voice..

So do you believe or not...

This was first mooted back in 2000 by a lecturer (Terry Beverton) at the then University of Wales. Think nothing came of it then
