Does the result really matter... they are warm up games so no real importance.

The main worry is injury, if any player looks like he's carrying an injury get him off

We need a full fit confident squad for Japan

Really don't see the point in this game.

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I really cant see the point on these 4 hard games before the world cup, it beggars belief that it's only for financial reasons for the rugby unions.

Theres no such thing as friendly or trial games vs england or Ireland remember and we cant afford any injuries.

Gatland needs shagging for agreeing to these games I think.

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

Do we really want to go into another world cup cold??

It hasnt worked so far so lets try something new!

All southern hemisphere go into the world cup on the back of the championship where every game is competitive. SA, NZ and Aus always have good world cups and they have a tough "warm up"

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

Yes I understand what your saying but other teams got a lot more strength in depth, we cant afford anymore injuries.

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

What areas are we weak in? Loads of depth imo.

And injuries can happen regardless the opposition.

Who else would we play? Russia? Malta? USA? Canada? All pointless, point collection games...

I stand corrected you are right!

Wales will top the rankings for the first time since they were introduced in October 2003 if they win and New Zealand fail to beat Australia a day earlier

They could lose second place if they are beaten by more than 15 points and Ireland win, but cannot drop below third

England will swap places with South Africa above even if both sides win this weekend – they could climb to third if Ireland also lose to Italy

Difficult game, but the team showed some quite interesting tactical choices.

Anyone else notice that when the ball was going wide, we had forwards in those positions as support? Can't remember the last time I have seen Ken Owens as the widest man out in attack. Or North receiving a high ball with Alyn Wyn Jones and Ken Owens in support on the wing!

Navidi has been amazing since Warb's left. His work at the breakdown is amazing, he is involved at almost every move and tackle.

I think big games, yes. Small games, he can be devastating brought on towards the end.

I am gutted Evans didn't get more gametime though. I want to see him on a full match against Ireland now!

Yes! Ken had a stormer yesterday. I was proper belly laughing when I saw him on the wing and he had a gallop, then when he was on North’s shoulder for the try with his arms raised, brilliant!

I wasnt expecting a stand out performance, it was more a chance to give some of the seconds a run out on the pitch to see how they went.

I think Gat's had a plan all along and didnt intend on putting on a show, but more like a planned move in the WRU rankings ?

Squad looks strong and I think Rob will get a call up later from injuries as hes not been bad.

The warm-ups are there for checking things out. I think we will see a different team come the first game.

We haven't played the same style of play since the 6N, I mean against England we had players like Alun-Wyn and Ken Owens on either wing at one point with North and Adams inside.

As ManCardiff says above. I think FH is a key position, however it is the link between 9, FH and centres that is the key to an attack.

It's the 9 that dictates what happens for the first receiver and goes from there. the 9/10 partnership should open up the centres and the wings.

The 9 is a position where we need to have someone quick, whilst the defence is scrambling we can allow Davies and Parkes a few steps and funny lines with North and Adams coming good when the defence tightens and is pulled out of shape by the quick ball

Just my 5p anyway haha. Will be an interesting world cup regardless.

Hate to break it to you but we're not going to trouble the bigger teams this world cup. Too many injuries and not enough ball carriers up front.

I do agree that to challenge the bigger teams we need to be more expansive but I don't think we have the personnel and ability at the moment.

And against Fiji we need to play to our strengths, not theirs.

Can't beat an early kick off. There's been a few Lions tours where I'm smashed by midday and in bed before 4pm!

Thats the game on the 9th right? I'm definitely out for that one - my 40th falls between the Fiji and Uruguay games. It's entirely possible I wont go home in between

With the game effectively won in the first half, I reckon Gats and Edwards told the forwards to front up to the Georgian pack.

It wasnt working very well, but they continued, in vain for a lot of the 2nd half, now they're more intelligent than that, but I'd be pretty sure they were told to front them up to test the Welsh 8s physicality levels.

Otherwise, why not just keep it going out to the backs, in set moves to run riot for the sake of it and learn little from the game.

Not the best of games ,,,,

We were ok for about 20mins then went flat saw out the first half with ease...

But didn't react to pressure coming from the Georgians...

If we play like this Sunday we could be in for a tough old time.

Get Bradley Davis out there immediately..

That's really good thinking that bring George off his wing to work off the 10...

So if he takes the ball up in mid field gets tackled and turned over who is gonna cover the massive hole in the defensive line ??

You'd be the first to lay into him if he came in off his wing then left it open and Wales conceded

North is not a good centre at 13 let alone 12.

Leave him on the wing where he's world class and a big game player.

Noticed Fiji didn't smash through the Aussies 10/12 channel but smashing the wingers.

This is where I hope Wales and North have noticed and if he's on form then Australia won't be able to handle him
