Oh bugger!! You'd think he'd want to keep open what seems to be a busy establishment. With it being a sports bar it's always busy on match days. As well as the hotel getting booked up when sporting events happen in Cardiff! |

Maybe having to replace all the mattresses and bed linen every couple of months is proving too costly |

"I hope they all close...it will be good for the old traditional pubs that are struggling to stay afloat "
And thousands of young bar workers out of a job... great idea |

Surely you can't blame Spoons for the closure of businesses that would have closed anyway.
More the case I am not aware of the numbers of closing pubs and cafes in towns that Spoons have venue's located. |

"On average for every spoons put in a town it forces 4-5 businesses to close...pubs and cafes that families have built up for generations."
What's to blame for all the pubs shutting where there isn't a spoons?
Thousands of pubs have shut since the smoking ban came in and you can go to the supermarket for 24 cans for £10.
When we was younger everyone went to the pub now most people we know have house parties. |

Village and town pubs have been closing at an alarming rate and it's nothing to do with Spoons.
High tenancy agreements, premium rates and other costs, not being able to adapt their business models, have forced them to close.
In many places Spoons have actually been beneficial to towns, driving standards up, and acting as a focus and draw for other businesses in failing areas |

They are looking for buyers of 16 premises at the moment, the staff are being offered relocation to pubs nearest to them in the event of sale. It is normal practice to sell the ones not making a profit or indeed making a loss. |

Yes, but I can think of a couple that were put up for sale years ago that they still run. If nobody buys, they don't seem to close them down. |

Have spoons been beneficial to brewers? Or spoons staff? |

Actually they have.
They've driven the sales of micro breweries and cask ales and ciders, seen a resurgence in craft gins and other drinks.
They've introduced staff to well planned career and management opportunities in the hospitality industry |

That's one side of the story. I've heard the other from a few sources including the micro breweries. The truth is probably somewhere in between. |
