Is anyone else feeling like this about organised social nights? They can be exciting and a great night out meeting ppl old n new but mostly it's the same ppl attending over and over therefore not meeting anyone new? You end up seeing past plays which can be awkward when u just wanna forget about them. Yes I know someone is gonna snap and say well just don't go lol I'm just asking so calm the hell down before u go all keyboard rage |

Personally I attend social events to catch up with old friends. It is a bonus if there are new people there too... I don't attend every social so I'm sure I probably miss out on meeting new people too... I suppose everyone has their own expectations of social events |

I prefer the smaller daytime socials because for me it's about catching up & chatting with the few friends I've made over the years. Past meets either become part of that friendship group or we're adult enough to be in the same place without causing any issues. Fab, Wales is a small place & those who arrange socials do their best to encourage new people along, it's for us to make them feel welcome X |

Socials are good to catch up with old friends but the groups of people that all know each other can be quite intimidating to new single or couples. I always found this at most 'party' socials. I've starting go to 'event socials like bowling and board game ones (thinking of starting one in swansea) I find them more fun and more interactive with old and new people |

I enjoy running the Bridgend social and get a good crowd. I try to get as many newbies as possible. Usually about 20 are all single men and sadly most of them dont turn up. I do try to get everyone mingling but struggling when some sit on their own all night and wont let me introduce them to anyone. But its rewarding to see everyone else enjoying themselves and its a good laugh x |

Agreed with a large part of that OP. Is it a lot of familiar faces and that clashes with me and my personal reasons for being on this site. I have learned to try and totally shift my reasons for attending these events now and use them as face to face catch ups with people who want to chat with me rather than looking for new people to try and connect with.
I hold my hands up and say that I am human and have made a great many mistakes in my time here but I think I am getting better at it and this last weekend probably demonstrated that tbh. I crave a connection, and I am coming to realise that this is not likely at all on here long term.
So yes I will continue to put a lot of energy in to the socials scene but I'm using them as a night out away from home now with people who want to chat and engage, rather than by myself in front of the TV with my dick in my hand now and then. |

"I’m interested in attending a social but, I worry that it would be awkward as I would attend in male mode and feel it ruins any credibility I might have as Tara going forward."
People have attended socials " en femme", no reason why you cannot do the same. |

"I treat socials as a chance to hang out with my swinging friendship group. Anything else is a bonus!
Made so many good friends over the years. "
It was very much this for me
Everyone lives all over the shop so it was a rare opportunity to see all my faves in one go |

Maybe try to encourage new people along with you. A lot of attendees have eventually started going to socials cause of word of mouth.
I've also found each one there are more and more new faces. So don't give up on them as they're such great nights |

Sadly I don’t drive and wouldn’t have the nerve to travel on public transport as Tara |

Book a hotel local to the venue and walk from there. |

We love the socials. We very much look forward to seeing old friends . We can go months without seeing each other otherwise. Our aim when we came on the site was to get into the entire lifestyle and make friends who are on our level and not just play mates. Everyone is different in what they want or are looking for.
Last week we attended a social and there was lots of new faces and people we've never really spoken with.
So dont give up on them. There is hope xxmiss |

Km new I've been to 2 so far chatted to the same members I met in the 1st one. It's quite intimidating for singles to mingle if they dknt know them so if you see a new face go say HI x |

As someone who hasn't attended a social event yet, but wishes too, is there a way of viewing all upcoming events around South Wales, or only by checking the forums? |

There's a meet&events tab. You can narrow down the searches to what your looking for x |

I don't think all Socials are put on there, you are better off watching the forums for socials to be advertised. |

As someone who was absolutely petrified about their first social today I can honestly say everyone I spoke to was lovely. I think it is about taking a deep breath going up to people and just being honest that you are new. A smile goes a long way! |
