BBC Wales report on a case where a motorist in Gwent had an altercation with a cyclist, resulting in them punching them into oncoming traffic, causing serious life changing injuries.
I'm a cyclist. I know it's a vexatiin to be behind a group (I also drive! ) but at what point does your impatience cause to nearly kill someone because of a momentary delay?
No-one owns the road, but shoukd people who display tendencies to rage and the inability to control their temper be banned from driving? |

What would insurance have prevented in that situation?! It’s crazy that people can get that annoyed by someone they’d resort to those measures! I’ve been stuck behind old people/tractors/horses etc for miles, doing stupidly slow speeds, I’ve never thought I’m going to get out and hit them, or try and drive them off the road. Most people will hopefully have 80 years plus, 2 minutes stuck behind a cyclist is f all, deal with it!!
P.s yes I am a cyclist, but I still find people riding side by side when they know there’s a car behind them annoying, but majority of riders will move back into single file, like most drivers won’t purposely try and cause injury to a cyclist! |

I've been a cycles for many years racing and riding for pleasure. There are alot of fools on the road and that's on both sides. I think there needs to be a law setup and we have to stick to it. Otherwise things will alway be like this. Need to start respecting each other. Even cycle paths are not safe at time. My rant over. |

Im amazed when i see a cyclist on a very busy fast road slowing traffic and by the side of road is a cycle track and also when there cycling at night dressed in dark clothing and have no lights, on a road with no street lights |

Some people act like arseholes no matter what type of transport they use. I've ridden bicyclers, motorbikes and driven cars so have seen things from both sides.
I always found one type of road user hating another rather amusing. Since some peoples view of me would change depending what I took out of the garage that morning. |

As long as each and everyone sticks to the highway code then there shouldn't be a problem
However, as with many things in life, there a are a minority who spoil it all for everyone.
And a commonly touted phrase, patience is a virtue, should apply on the road too  |

As an occasional cyclist, I know how many cycle paths are badly implemented. Where I previosly lived the council split the pavement into a cycle path / pedestian pavement. But because every house on the road had a driveway & there were many side streets, cyclists were expected to stop & give way every 20 or 30m! So noone used it. How would motorists feel if emerging traffic from every side street had priority? The pavement was deep enough to have a separate cycle lane ...but that would have cost more to implement....
And cycle lanes marked off giving riders a metere of space at the side of roads in towns, with white vans / lorries / vehicles stopped on them every 50m or so. Waste of time marking it as a cycle lane & unsafe for riders.
I have every sympathy for cyclists in these cases.
Dark clothing / no lights on the other hand...bloody madness. With Aldi / Lidl flogging safty gear at £5 a throw there is no excuse. I ride with a flashing tail light any time i'm on the road (day or night) in the hope it gets me noticed by drivers behind, & at night time I wear bright clothing with more lights. Can't believe how many cyclists have no lights & cycle in dark hoodies etc, effectively becoming impossible to see after dark. Pure madness. |

All valid points, however the debate I was trying to raise, was how on earth can people stoop so low that they resort to serious violence to resolve their differences, over being inconvenciened on the road? And if they do, should they automatically be banned as they're not safe to drive? |

IMHO there's quite a big assumption in previous posts that the car driver was the aggressor and instigator.
I've met, know and have crossed some cyclists, and some, have a Lycra clad arrogance that everyone should look out for them, not that they are equally responsible for their own safety and courteous use of the highway.
The altercation referred to might have less to do with a man's driving ability but more to do with two Neanderthals coming head to head. It's very unfortunate that a person was seriously injured. |

Horses are alowed on a road. an animal that can bolt and cause loads of damage in other words go feckin nuts and do crazy things.
ever wondered why there hasn't been calls for horse owners to have insurance to ride on public roads?

Only the people involved will know the details of the original incident ... But it takes 2 to tango, it's likely both were aggressive & liable to road rage.
I travel to Cardiff each day in a car share. The other driver has bouts of road rage & feels he has to teach other drivers a lesson. I just close my eyes and hope for the best. Our non driving passenger has said I'm a lot calmer.
Some people are aggressive - no matter what mode of transport they use. Best to try & avoid confrontation with them. It'll be a waste of your time & possibly get you injured. |

My view is that cyclists should be under the same scrutiny and over priced punishments as drivers...speed they can go now..flying down bus lanes taxi lanes....flying through red lights which really grinds my gears..family guy quite pinched there lol and flying through city centre like total twats!!!...but on the note of killing 1 I don't think I'd go that far but hey I hate every cunt on wheels including myself so yup I'm off to give myself a slap and a damn good talking to pms  |
