So... Are you sticking with the traditional Turkey dinner this year, or having something different??

I decided to have a change from the usual bland turkey and go for an alternative..

Duck and Partridge! - Roast stuffed Partridge with festive stuffing (pork and chestnut) & Duck al orange on the side - YUMMY!

So, what are you having this year?? x

Turkey for us(Not a lover of it) as one of us gets it from work free.

Maybe get a chainsaw on the bloody thing and put it in the freezer and go for a lovely pork or beef joint.

from somewhere glittery & sparkly

We have decided this year on a cold buffet for Christmas dinner.

As we spend too much time cooking and cleaning up after to enjoy the day with the family

Turkey for us on Xmas day, but this year no prep, cooking or washing up for us as Mum has invited us there, and we normally go to hers for Boxing day too for a hot buffet, so its an easy 2 days for us lol!

If it weren't for a well known UK broadcasting corporation website, I'd have been stuck for ideas and probably ended up with the turkey option

Step by step guide, too, so can't go wrong (hopefully)

I usually have my Christmas meal alone, at home and after a great hour or two with friends.

Last year I had bass (why call it "sea bass" when bass is a seafish, it's like calling cod "sea cod"). I really enjoy cooking.

I've already thought about this year's meal, and although it's a little early to make final decisions, I think I'll return to tradition (sort of).

Two duck legs wrapped in bacon (two in reserve in case they are small) and chicken breast, all roasted in an orange sauce, (made) pigs in blankets, stuffing, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, broad beans, french beans, peas, sweetcorn, roast parsnips, roast garlic, sprouts.

I don't have a starter, but for afters it's a cheeseboard with fruit (grapes, dates, apricots, satsumas) plus a second tray of cold meats (chorizo, salami etc), cherry tomato and beetroot.

Good red wine (Brouilly) and port are essential, as is Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan.

Bugger the dishes, that's for Boxing day.

Yep...I've been thinking about it!!!

We always had goose when I was a child, my Mum only gave in to turkey in the '70s under peer pressure from other Mums. Friends, pheasant and Chateau Talbot for me, though.

Duck legs.. I'd definitely have some reserve.. Never tried wrapping them in bacon, though.. The roast parsnip sounds lush, I'm going to do some of that to go with the partridge.. Just going to roast the lot (probably) with the partridge dish, then sticky toffee pudding for afters and a jack and
