As an English couple living in Wales can I say that this Welsh/English thing is complete bollox.
Yep there is a bit of banter and rivalry particularly when the rugby is on the TV but people are the same everywhere and we are all basically the same.
We love the country we've chosen to live in and now get a sense of what 'hiraeth' is when we drive back to Wales. TBH we couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
We haven't really answered the question but I can't imagine any genuine Welsh person of any gender being bothered where you come from as long as you're a decent human being. |

I'm Cardiff born and bred, but don't speak any Welsh. Some areas don't even accept that Cardiff is in Wales because we don't use Welsh as a first language. (Few use it at all other than in school Welsh lessons) Those that do speak Welsh look at the rest of us as if they scraped us off their shoe.

Rubbish. Newport doesn't speak Welsh as a first language. Nor does Cwmbran, Pontypool, Abergavenny in fact most of South East Wales is English first language.
No one has ever claimed Cardiff isn't in wales. It's the capital city.
Utter rubbish that just perpetuates the divide. As other posters have said, the wales/England divide is, for 90% of people, "banter" it's a joke.
Yeah you'll get some who don't like it but then you'll get English people who don't like the welsh. Scotish who don't like English, Irish who don't like Scottish etc etc. |
