If you found out someone you were dating used an escort, would that make you want to break up with them?
And I don't mean while you're together, this happened about 5 years ago. My friend thinks they should break up, I say who cares.

I think if you were dating them at the time it'd be a no-no lol but if it was years ago before you knew them or got with them it happens - I know this guy who goes to Cardiff and takes escorts on dates |

Yeah, she can be very closed minded. She thinks porn is evil. That her son will never ever watch it or wank when he's a teenager. And thinks her husband has never watched porn or wanked  she can be a bit nieve.

To be honest, I would have thought you'd only get one type of answer from this forum due to it being basically a sex based group.
Personally I'd say if she loved him and sees a future with him then she has to somehow get past his previous encounters.
Escorts are just another service that people use as long as the escorts are willing and not being forced to work them I see no problems. |

Personally I'd say if she loved him and sees a future with him then she has to somehow get past his previous encounters.

if she feels strongly about these views and feels like it's something she can't overcome, then I'd say that possibly yes she should.
Whether you agree with her views or not really isn't the issue is it? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and feel like their views are valued (whether you agree or not). As a friend, I always try to support my friends with their choices, whatever they may be. Everyone has different moral fibre and things that are deal breakers in a relationship. History does impact a relationship, as it does life in general, so to say that his past will have no effect on her is narrow minded.

The friend whose boyfriend it is is very on the fence and I seem to be the only one that doesn't see it as an issue. And she feels like she SHOULD break up with him because of what everyone else thinks about it. I just wanted to show her that I'm not the only one who thinks it's no big deal. |

If she has doubts and for her is more important the opinion of the others rather than her own feelings, she should leave him. No need to torture herself or him. Personal experience. Giving advice to her is no good either. You might end up being the one to blame for any failure. |

I still think the same though. What everyone else thinks is irrelevant. It's what she thinks that really matters. Rather than trying to encourage her to see it from your perspective, why not help her come to her own conclusion without leading it? |

but where do you draw the line? As you could meet some who beat the crap out of their ex, and then say "well that was before me".. surely the female involved in this should make decisions on what she is happy with from a partner? Everyone will have varying degrees of what's acceptable or not. Using the "it's in the past" excuse, never floats with me, as the past creates the future. |

I'm not trying to lead it. I'm just trying to show her that not everyone sees it as a bad thing. If she can't deal with it then I've told her she should break up with him because it could be a bigger issue down the line.
I don't think anyone should break up over the opinions of others, she just thinks "well everyone else thinks it's disgusting and wrong so maybe it is and maybe I shouldn't be with him"
Whereas in just trying to say "some people think it's wrong yes, but look. There are others who don't. So there's two sides. What you choose to do is up to you but don't do it because other people think it's "wrong" or dirty" x |

On a very basic level, casual sex, you can be relatively assured that your partner wants to do this and finds you at least somewhat attractive, if only through beer goggles and only for the night. (Let's dispence with pitty fucks, dares and other assholish behavior for the sake of the argument, ok?) With a prostitute, you can never assume the same, even if they seem really enthusiastic.. As Satine in Moulin Rouge says, "I'm paid to make men believe what they want to believe."

Oooooh there is no comparison to be drawn there, how can you say for the most part they're women who like sex? The tv & social media are flooded with examples of trafficking etc. There's a bit of sweeping judgement creeping into this now & its beginning to feel less like a friendship dilemma every comment you make X |

That's why I said for the most part. I also have friends who've done it and enjoyed it and watched many a documentary about women who do it to enjoy it.
My comments are in response to others. They're not just pit of the blue statements.
To me sleeping with an escort or whatever isn't that different to when a guy goes out, buys girls drinks all night with the aim to sleep with them. And more women I know have regreted d*unken one night stands than have regretted being paid for sex. |

No, she just wasn't a single mother who has about 20 kids.. I'm guessing though she probably had alot of practice.. And knew what she was doing.. She was super fit, too, like page 3 material.. My ex used yo use an escort when he was with his simply because she wouldn't have sex. I don't see what difference it makes as it isn't happening while he is with her x |
