Obvs off topic (thought tbh most stuff on here is very un swing related)
ive tried all my usual sources of advice so thought fuck it cant hurt to ask you lot.
after a long drawn out seperation ive moved out of the house i was buying with prev partner and find myself back in the rental market for the 1st time in circa 10years.
this time i have a dog... ive been rejected for even a viewing on over 150 properties inc detatched houses with gardens!!!
ideally i want a small garden flat or flat near some outside space as i have a deposit ready to buy somewhere but i need to wait for the right property.
im not fussy but as its a stop gap id prefer cheap as im still also paying the mortgage of the house i no longer live in.
im sick of living in hotels (its fucking expensive) and staying with family.
if anyone has any experinece / tips of renting with pets id be all ears.
there must be someone somewhere??? |

yeah been using that when ive needed to be close.
id like a more settled solution especially as when i buy despite a decent deposit id like to have seperated all my financial affairs and i need a fixed addres to do so. |

as far as i know ive tried all the agents in and around cardiff.
been searching really aggresivley for 6 weeks and ive had 3 viewings. all which went same day.
ironically im taking on another comercial property in the next few weeks so i will end up with 3 commercial properties a house i dont live in and cash in the bank ... yet nowhere to live!!!
it seems most of cardiffs rentals are owned by detached prvt landlords so dont really care. |

I rent out quite a few properties around the s/wales area and what you will find is 98% of agents instantly disgard pet owners as the cost of repair on short letting isn't worth the time n effort for the landlord!!---keep an eye out for private lettings or give me a quick msg of area you're looking for see if I can help as know quite a few in this sector!!---if not I wish ya luck |

I know we all like to be honest but I would recommend not telling them about the dog and being discreet. If it's a short term rental until you buy then it shouldn't be an issue. You get advance notice of inspections so can arrange to be out with dog and just have house cleaned thoroughly at end of tenancy. You may want to try gumtree as they have private rents that may accept pets. |

ive thought about not telling them ... but it doesnt sit right with me.
my extensive use of gumetree / air bnb/ and rental sites has shown that most properties are similaniously on all 3 so i can air bnb a place by the night for £65 but i cant rent it with a dog...
most of gumtree is the same flats as with the agents
1 viewing i even had a conversation with the owner about the 2 dogs they were getting ... then they said they wouldnt want a dog in the rental.
private landlords are fucking this country ( amnd i thought that before i couldnt rent somewhere) commercial rents are fucking obscene but becauser you can get capital gains tax on commercial property a lot of pension funds are linked so they cant ever decrease the rent as they would bottom out the fund.
hence long term empty units on crazy asking prices.
might just buy a motor home and park up outside the landlords house and encourage my dog to shit on thier driveways. |

For the record I think property in this country is fucked. But that position wad formed prior to my current situation as from the stance of a homeowner also and acting landlord of another property (too far to be practical for me to now live in) and also some one who has 2 to soon be 4 commercial properties.
So yeah I might whinge but this forum is not my outlet for life.
As for the properties on said links I've viewed 2 of them the landlord said only one would allow my dog and then the additional fees and restrictions meant it would have cost several hundred pounds over the advertised price. One of the others has been withdrawn.
I am deadly serious about all things and when I say I have spent weeks using all current contacts I mean so.
2 of my friends manage property portfolios and unfortunately all thier own ones are let and the insurance on the others does allow pets.
One chap I know and am soon to be taking another commercial property from is one of the biggest estate agents in sw and he can't find me anything either!
They may very well be out there but most at this present time seem very much let.
I was intending on dropping you a dm but not so sure now. |

If your in this sector and your friend is the biggest in sw then they would have these contacts to sort you out but hey choppsing at someone who tried to help you out isn't the way to go---right I'm fucked with being so polite so gd luck |

Oh that's a shame. He's been on this site for years and is hilarious.
Really sad when someone like him leaves
He's obviously going through a tough time. I hope he's back soon xx |
