Been giving this serious thought recently....I can't take any oral hormonal contraception due to a bleeding disorder and have tried the Mirena which made my life hell for 3 months. Anyway, I'm 32 this year and I 1000000% do not want any more children. I have been referred to have my tubes tied before but I shit out. Felt it was too final at the time.
But after recent shit and my current circumstances I feel it probably is the right choice for me. Just looking for any ladies' views or experiences, good or bad.

Ahh ok sorry to butt in ?? My ex isn't on here ??
Our daughter is 34 so it must have been earlier than 42 thinking about it.
It must have been around 32 ish docs didn't want to but she has 3 kids and each one came sooner last (ours) was 6 weeks early so she was million % she was not going to have any more kids |

If your tubes are tied, can't it be reversed if you find your circumstances have changed?
I had to have a hysterectomy, I was a little sad the day of the op, but I have two kids and lost two. The sadness of having the op, certainly outweighs the pain of losing.
Plus side, no more periods!! Op is done keyhole these days so not as invasive as it used to be.
Chat it over with your doc, express your concerns and ask all the questions you need to x |

I had it done after my 4th baby because nothing worked, couldn't take the pill, got pregnant with the coil & then on the injection. I was 32 when they finally agreed, I always mourned the loss of choice & did later get into a new relationship where I would've liked another child but then I got cancer & all choice was taken away from me, I don't regret so much now but it is something you need to weigh the pro's & cons of very carefully & only you can know what might be best for you. Take care & don't rush into anything X |

I was sterilised at the age of 30. It was with clips and keyhole surgery. I had 2 children and definitely did not want any more... I was a bit sore afterwards but had no other problems.
Don't rush into anything unless you are definitely sure about it x |

No experience. But I would say that your current circumstances will change and the recent shit will soon be a memory... so please don't make any life changing decisions based on other idiots xxx
Are there any other alternatives which are less "final"? Might be worth pushing your doctor/family planning advisor?

I was sterilised at 22. My tubes were cut. I didnt have the choice but l knew l didnt want anymore. The upside was l knew l couldnt get pregnant again but the downside was that my periods got so much heavier. It dont happen that way for everyone. But its something to think about!

Curvy x" this shows my total ignorance - why do they get heavier? I thought they would have stopped if not releasing an egg? |

On a lighter note...
I'd like to offer my services, seeing that the NHS is so cash strapped these days.
I'm a highly qualified electrical engineer, used to working with/in fine tolerances and tight spaces I assume it is tight ?? However I have found that it is much easier if you can get two hand on to the work object, this would depend on usage of the orifice...
But I digress..
Again to save the NHS we could hire a room with a sex swing, having made sure that its thoroughly cleaned by some of the "maids" on fab.
Once your legs are strapped into the stirrups, we could enlist the use of a perve...erh professional fanny hair removal specialist, I'm sure more than a few would like the task, a quick squirt of shaving gel and a mach 3 razor and before you know it fanny is smooth.
I suppose we should consider anaesthetic, personally I wouldn't recommend dark fruits.... I'd be more inclined towards special brew, does the job twice as quick
I have a LED head torch that should be capable of lighting up the cavern, however if that proves incapable of the task then spotlights should suffice.
Finally we could stream the whole operation on a pay to view channel, thus ensuring that you have sufficient cash to have a week in trecco bay recovering... minus my 25% fee of course
Please consider this worthwhile proposition and think of the NHS saving our hard cash.
seriously
Good luck in your choice, I'm sure that it will be the right one.
H
PS you still owe me a pint |

Had the snip twenty years ago to make sure of no more kids...love my two dearly, but it was definitely the right decision at the right time.
Good luck with your decision. |
