How fastidious are we when it comes to checking the best before dates on food items?
Just sorting through my cupboards for menu ideas and threw away a dozen or so items with 2014/15 dates on them. |

My gran came across an unopened jar of Branston pickle in her fridge last month with a best before date of June 2002 (yes 14 years out of date)
And being the legend that she is she thought she would try it anyway but thought better of it after the first taste |

"When my nan died in 1979 my father found tins in her cupboard from ww11. He ate them and he's still alive. As stated if smells ok it's ok"
