Would overweight be a nicer reference than calling them fat? At least it shows that they have had a good source of food recently, much better than thin penguins, who don't get enough.
Mind you, if there are predators nearby, I feel sorry for these penguins, as they are unlikely to get away and more likely to be caught and eaten. Having said that, if you look at it from the predator's point of view, they are just as entitled to survive as the penguins, so maybe the fat, I mean, overweight penguins are the balance in nature and have played an important role in the survival of a species.
Then again, it could just be a case of too many fish in the zoo keeper's bucket each day.
