Lately the camera van has been out a lot in cardiff. Saw him twice on Sunday in rumney ( top of rumney hill and on lamby way ) I've also seen him on the a48 by heath hospital and at the philog. He certainly seems to be putting the overtime in.... The Barsteward!!!! |

Is it between each pair of cameras or between entry and exit points to the average speed camera "zone"? |

There are ways around speeding fines plus products out there to help avoid them. I don't speed so I've not been caught I've also no intention of being caught. |

Mate I hammer it down the M4 but when I hit a 50 zone i set the cruise control to 50 and don't go over it. You can never be sure which of those cameras are working and it's not worth the risk. |

We could abolish them instead of 3 points and £100 fine if your driving too fast for the circumstances £1000 fine and 6 points for driving due care and attention with a full ban until the fine is paid would work better |

When I was (much) younger, I ended up with 13 points on my licence... and still kept it... (I had a good brief who convinced them I needed it for work) but I was put on a "good driving behaviour" bond, meaning the next "ooppss" and I would lose my licence for 5 years, plus I was banned from taking my car licence test for the same period! |

Some people don't seem to realise the NSL is 60 not 40, in perfect driving conditions there is no excuse for doing 35/40 in a 60mph zone. Dangerous!! |

The NSL is a maximum, not a target to attain!
Some people don't drive that fast because they don't feel safe, or for other reasons.

You are expected to drive at a speed reasonably near the speed limit unless conditions i.e bad weather, traffic etc wouldn't allow.
Or at least that is what the driving test examiner told me when I failed my first test 8 years ago
Unless it has changed since then?? |

You are expected to drive at a speed at which you are in full control of the vehicle, and can safely manoeuvre it, whilst proceeding at a rate of speed that doesn't put yourself, or others, in danger.
You can fail your test for going too slow, or taking ages to get up to a "reasonable" speed.
I'm not a big fan of being stuck behind someone who is dawdling along either, but if everyone around them is driving as per the Highway code then there shouldn't be any problems. |

Driving too slow WILL cause test failure you are expected to drive to a reasonable speed of there is no reason to be driving 10/15 mph or more under the speed limit your not safe to be on the road. You should be able to drive to the conditions |

it is actually illegal to drive to slow, and the police are supposed to book people in the same way as speeding but they don't, also if someone is driving slowly and they don't pull over they can also be booked for obstruction(unless lorry, tractor etc).
people driving to slow cause a lot of accidents as people with get frustrated and still taking more wreckless chances to get pass, if people dont feel safe to be driving more than 40, should they be driving as they are causing an obstruction on the road and putting peoples lives at risk.
the speed limit laws should be looked at and amended, these speed limits having change for over 40years at least, and it has been shown that the braking distances on highway code are well out of date as modern cars can go over 110mph and still break within the distances on the highway code for 70mph

"Big question here is are speed limits required or can we make roads safer without them?"
Well considering speed limits were first introduced when fred flinstone had his car and the technological advances in car cant see any reason why certain speed limits cant be adjusted- but doesn't matter if they up m-way speed limit to 80 code most people will do 90- howvever if they did up it then should scrap +10% rule and this from a guy who got nav and snooper for cameras |

You should see the pricks driving west towards Pont Abraham who move out into the fast lane for the last 1.5 miles, travelling at 50mph without engaging the indicator as they want to turn off for ammanford!!!!! If they had the indicator flashing then you could legaly undertake them. |

It is a myth about 10% rule. If someone is going 31mph in a 30 then it is down to the degressin of the operator whether to prosecute. |

Is there a slow lane and fast lane? I thought they were the same speed limits, on a serious note most people don't know the little lever on the left of the steering colum operates the indicator so if your a driver please try it out if you've never done it you might make a few people around you very happy |

"If you don't speed you don't get a fine

The coppers would be better employed actually catching the DANGEROUS drivers out there, not those straying over an arbitrary limit by a couple of mph. Low speed limits outside schools etc are of course a very sensible idea, but should the 20mph limit be rigidly adhered to at 1 o'clock in the morning...? Yes speed limits might be a measure of control, but what about those who drive within the speed limits yet are dangerous and incompetant...they're out there in large numbers. |
