why is it that the first thing I get asked in the chatrooms (after someone has ascertained that I am from North Wales) is 'whereabouts then?'
who cares whereabouts? its not like we have arranged to meet or anything so why bother asking?
Surely if I want people to know I would be less coy about my location

just a natural question to try and start a conversation, same way when you get into a taxi at the end of the night you have to ask if the driver has been busy and if he still has a long shift to go.

I'm sure there's lots of other natural ways to start a message/ conversation
I don't have whereabouts I'm from specifically
But get asked this all the time
I just politely say
Unless I'm meeting I don't say !! |
