There are no exact numbers given as to what constitutes a harem, since the origin of the word in Arabic means forbidden, i.e. the woman's/women's quarters was/were forbidden to all but the king (and eunuchs). In theory, therefore, one woman could constitute a harem.
The Sassanid Chosroes II of Persia reportedly had a harem of 3,000 wives, as well as 12,000 other females, so 15,000 in all. That means at one woman per night and six days "on the job" and one day to recuperate, it would have taken him 48 years to "service" each woman just once!  |

Although... to be serious... could you really do 5 a night 6 nights a week for that long.... jeez... I'd want a holiday about 4 times a year, 3 weeks away like, so that would add about 30 months... so that's up to about 12 years... then, you are bound to miss one now and then, add another year, plus you are bound to slow down a bit, and get ill now and then too... add about 4 years, so that's 17 years... omg.. if you started at age 25, by 42 you would be worn out... a husk of a man!!!  |
