This is an idea Rosie has had for a while now …. Let’s see how it goes!
In my experience, great social and playing parties and group activities particularly go with a bang when participants have a common love of great music …. whatever genre, but happy, fun music! In particular, swingers who are of an age where they remember and love music from the 60’s, 70’s and/or 80’s make the best party people (my opinion – but we are right in this age group!!)
So, you lot ……. I am starting a new group ….. the JACKIE FAN CLUB. You don’t need to have been an avid Jackie magazine reader (although I was!) but it hits the era when music was fantastically varied and we all had teen idols posters on our bedroom walls. Male / female, straight / bi / TV …. whatever floats your boat ….. join the ‘club’ and let’s start getting together and planning some fun group events!
Anyone can get in touch and to kick things off, the next ‘rosegarden’ party will be a Jackie Fan Club social event (downstairs) with lots of great music and plenty of play space (upstairs) if you fancy! We can host up to 30 people at this party, whether you’ve been before or are new to us – all welcome – as long as you get the Jackie Fan Club theme!
DATE: Saturday 14th March TIME: 7.30pm til late (after the rugby!) VENUE: Nr Treharris
I am hoping that, as well as house parties, we can also get pub socials, music event trips, camping trips and club meets going too and that we get a happy, fun group of people networking and joining in with events, knowing that they are amongst like-minded people.
PM us if you want to come to the party on the 14th. If you can’t make that but still want to ‘join the club’ and be on the list for notification of future events etc, add your name on here and confess all – say who were your no.1 teen idols from the golden years of pop and rock!

West Wales and Cardiff |
Grew up in the '80s. New Order were my favourite band back then, but developed a love of black music, so was into Gil Scott-Heron, Curtis Mayfield etc.
Got into to allsorts after, including indie stuff, electronic, house etc
Strangely can't recall a female musician I lusted over back then!
Nowadays it's mainly classical (I play in an orchestra) and have an enduring love of soul/funk.
I dj at soul/northern soul events from time to time. If you were going so far as having people playing records, I'd be happy to help out (not a whole night though)! Can't do 14th though.
Btw - i went to a great new reggae/ska night in the Cardiff area last night - great crowd/atmosphere. If anyone wants to know more, I can pass on details. |

Right this is my opinion but im ready to get jumped on...
Like I said earlier good luck and I think it's a brill idea but
Why isn't it open to all swingers of any age as on your age filters it has 30/70 years old.
After being to loads of partys and clubs I have to disagree with things going particularly well if you have a common love for music...i dont think I've ever sat and chatted about music at any event....
People make the socials and clubs you could have the best music in the world but if you ain't got the people or atmosphere you got nothing....
Swinging is ment to get everyone involved regardless of age, size or even colour.
So at these events do you play or just sit round talking about music?????
Like I said I hope it kicks off well for you but a think it's a little bit unfair to push out the under 30's as we have some amazing swingers in that age bracket...
And before I run and get my hard helmet.this isn't negative feed back at all as I love new things it's a observation |

I (Mart) had an early flirtation with the Bay City Rollers, but then got caught up with prog rock and then rock and metal (Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, etc).
Jayne was a bit late to music, she was into the usual 80's stuff like Duran Duran etc. |

I can't be bothered to quote all of your post on my phone Giggles. But I have been to a few group meets and clicked over our music tastes.
I do agree that its a bit shit to cut out the under 30s though. I love all kinds of music. Bowie, Led Zep, sabbath, the monkeys, Jefferson airplane etc. |

We've just got back from a great music gig - a reason why this idea came to mind today - and have read through all the messages to date.
Absolutely anyone, any age, can be part of this group .... the idea is that we all appreciate and enjoy music from the three decades mentioned 'cos it's a 'theme' or a common interest to base some fun events around.
I have got to say that it is in no way discriminatory - unlike 'single only' socials.
Anyone who wants to be on a friends list to be invited to join like-minded swingers at fun music events when we find them, or who would like to come to parties where a retro-music theme will be prevalent is welcome to put their name down here and then we will add you to the friends list on the new profile.
If you re not interested - don't join in - simples! |

I purely asked a few questions.
And as I stated hard helmet is on...
I wasn't the only person who thought the age bracket was 30/70 was I???
And if you re read what I had written I actually said it's a brill idea and im up for new things.....
And as for the singles only social it's for people to actually get there foot through the door so to speak where they can't do nothing with out a veri..and to be fair it benefits you all...
again as normal someone puts a thread up but no one can ask questions as you take it personal...

Loved the music of the 80s and 90s.
Jimmy Somerville stands out for me in all his different guises.
Found out today he sang backing vocals for Fine Young Cannibals too. |

Party list is nearly full ... will be finalised soon.
Thanks to everyone who has got in touch so far .... whatever music you are in to ... we all have something in common (else we wouldn't be on this site lol)!
A social evening will be sorted soon - details will be posted when the date has been agreed with the venue.
