How to tell if a pic is "fake"

There are two reliable tools to use:

If using Google Chrome just right click on an image, or Android just tap and hold the image; and an option to "Search Google for this image" will pop up.

The other is to install an app called TinEye. This can be a plug-in to Firefox for example; and will allow you to perform a similar Reverse Image Search

Be aware though, that some images are genuine but have been ripped off and posted unscrupulously

Just had a gander in the Google Play store and there are several apps all able to perform a reverse search

ooo i am scared of apps me lol they do mean things to my laptop but thanks i have been doing the google thing never found anything iffy does it tell you what other names have had the same pic or other profiles on other sites or something ?

It'll give you the url (Web address) of any other images which are visually the same or similar.

Even if a photo has been cropped or turned B&W, for example, it'll still find them

Maybe a certain Tory MP should have done this

To go back and search elsewhere on the Web for a picture

To go back and search elsewhere on the Web for a picture "

Reverse search is only any good if similar images have been processed by the spiders. Alter or manipulate the image enough and it may return a false positive. Well that's my guess anyway

US two prong plugs are a give away
