Some people are fussy and others aren't . You can't please all the people all the time. I think it's a good idea to use a profile style as a guide to how people wish to communicate. If they use text speak in their profile, they probably won't mind if you use it. And vice versa. |

If you peruse the forums & others profiles you'll see that some people are articulate & some favour text speak, that's the beauty of this site, the diversity X |

I try not to use txt speak myself, apart from smileys
I personally prefer to see a well written sentence. At least I can understand what's being written
For me it's just a compatibility issue |

I would rather not see text speak if I am honest but it doesn't bother me too much. However when I see people who can't spell the town they are from correctly it does make me wonder!! |

Text speak is fine for texting, but for writing a profile I find it very off-putting. Mind you, it is worse when someone tries writing and just does not know how to spell simple words!
As for smileys. just a bit of fun! |

I prefer not to text speak, but I'm often on here via my phone and the keyboard size is a limitation for serious typing.
It's also responsible for at least some of the regular typos that feature in anything I post.

Each to their own I suppose.....what's important to one isn't to another, some people are intelligent and just crap at texting/messaging etc...don't think it's something you can judge someone by! X |

Exactly that.
I've read each response and can absolutely relate.
My point is this and has been illustrated by Nice and Naughty above me;
You cannot judge one based purely on their writing technique and articulation if any whatsoever.
Never judge a book by it's cover.
Do you look at pics here and think - he's an asshole or she's a bitch?
Thought not as it's narrow minded to think so.
You cannot judge one purely based upon the way in which that person writes.

Haha Kitten. Absolutely.
Does it matter really?
Not really really....
But messages such as 'hello we're keen to chat' or whatever, are surely better than the 'want to f*ck now' messages or 'how's your pussy'
I know for a FACT most of those are deleted and blocked lmao xx |

"articulate messages are very important to me, they belie the level of intelligence of the sender"
I think that's gobbledygook!!!!!
Just because I txt speak it doesn't make me thick, stupid, lazy or anything else come to think of it....
its moving with the times so to speak...
it doesn't help that I have two older kids and they text speak when messaging me...
come on guys it's 2014 not 1909... |

No it's correct
Articulate is not well written or structured, complete sentences.
You can be articulate without spectacular grammar...
Text speak is not a reflection on the sender as in lazy or thick Giggles |

Personally I don't like text speak. I switch off and often don't bother to respond. Nothing to do with moving with the times I just can't be arsed to decipher what the abbreviations mean. |

Some people do choose to judge others by the standard of their writing though. I don't think it's any different to judging by photos, verifications or whatever else we use to base our decision making on. It may well be that we miss out on some lovely fun people who do not communicate well. By the same token, we might miss out on some pretty hot swingers who choose not to display pictures. But filtering has to start with something and we all filter one way or another don't we ? |

The main reason I do not like text speak is that, being dyslexic, it confuses the heii out or me sometimes. But overall, it's what you write that's important, not how you write it. It just appears that the dimwits with no imagination tend to use text speak because they know no better!
And no Giggles, I am not calling you a dimwit! |
