As a few people know me , im not abuse or rude, I sent a nice message , to someone, saying how nice etc etc etc about the profile, I check message has been read, not deleted, check profile and im blocked, why dont people just no ty , or not for us/me, instead of blocking, RANT over with ,had to get it of my chest, Gareth  |

Because it's easier for them to just block and then not receive any more messages from people they're not interested in ....
Some people get so many messages that to answer then all might be a bit tedious so they go down the block root ...
A shame but there you go  |

Because even if you send a message saying that your not interested, or no thanks, you often get an abusive message back or one asking 'why'. And if you read or don't read the message you often get hounded by the same person. So its easier just to block sometimes if you view the profile and know you're not interested. |

Blocking someone seems to be par for the course here.
But I believe that if you're already speaking with someone or have sent a message, it's sheer common decency and good manners to simply say thanks or no thanks.
Sadly as mentioned some people could indeed end up being bombarded, but that's when the red button comes in handy - what it's ultimately designed for.. Isn't it?
I've been using the Internet for absolutely years. 14/15 plus. Used many BB's, forums and as a web dev I've come across a lot of stuff online and met varied peeps from society, to do with the 'net.
The reason for mentioning is because it's my profession - being online and using tech, not just visiting a BB from my phone.......
From these years of experience I can say that it doesn't matter whether it's a swinging forum such as this or an I.T tech chat forum or even a mothers meeting site - netiquette (if you don't know it exists - it's etiquette but on the net) costs absolutely nothing.
On the flip side, I can help my wife plough and go through things quite easily here; as it's just another VB or BB but as a single Femme Fatale?
I think personally it would probably be a bit daunting!
So I can also see the need to be overly cautious with the block button.
However, again, netiquette costs nothing whatsoever.
You wouldn't walk away from someone in a cafe mid sentence would you?
Or would you?

It's this for me, if I have no intention of meeting a person I block & this prevents any misunderstanding. I can say a polite no today & next week that same guy will message again & then there's those who become abusive when I say no. I'm here for me so I come 1st x |

I do try to say no sorry to who I don't want to chat with but some time they go on and on so I for one try to be nice but then I get really pissed off and then I block sorry guys but its life but I think u should all ways get a no thank u before u are blocked |

That's the perfect way to handle the 'thanks but no thanks' situations.
If you get pissed or hassle then yes block, but unnecessary blocking for no reason when sending a single message like OP or even when exchanging messages, is plain old fashioned ignorance and arrogance.
A thanks but no thanks is good - if they get touchy then block.

People use blocking as a filter. When I view a profile, if i dont match what they want, or they are a no from me, then I block. Save a lot of time and effort.
I'm looking for a particular type of playmates, not just a place to dump my load. |
