i strongly advise against getting a whip as a 1st kinky toy.That's not an item to just play+mess around with 
A simple light flogger(avoid fake leather it's 'plasticy' + harsh!+ may not a good start unless you already discovered you got a high painthresshold lol)is easier to use.Best if someone experienced shows you to use it or if you want to receive:your partner.Avoid the kidneyarea!
Safety tips:shop bought handcuff keys are tiny + easily lost some ribbon/lanyard etc will be handy when you get into those'sodslaw' situations.....if you use rope/belts/stockings etc for bondage have scissors handy....for thick metalchains boltcutters  ....think commonsense when using anything in kink.
