Painful as hell to have fitted!!! Cervix opening was ok with an anaesthetic.... uterus was the killer!!!! Wanted to knee the consultant in the face.... but bless, he was lovely, as I didnt know I needed to take painkillers before having it fitted, as I thought I was going to see him for another reason!

Good/bad reports about it please!

I have had one for years. Had one after I gave birth. On my second now.

No trouble at all with it. But everybody is different. I know with some it can stops periods that's why they have them fitted. Unfortunately I am not that lucky ....

Try it and see that's all I can say.

Had it fitted about 10 years but was knocked out, didn't work for me at all, so after another 8 months of pure agony was given the "Therma choice" which worked in a matter of 2 months......been brill ever since.

I bled from the time it was fitted until a year of begging it was finally removedd. Best thing ive ever had done was the thermo choice endometrial abrasion.

Personally I have had mine for just over 4 years and have had no problem with it at all hope it works for you as I know it doesn't suit every woman that has had it fitted x

I've had mine for about 7 months now and seriously thinking of having it removed...initially had it fitted because of very heavy periods, it has stopped them being heavy but I bleed at least 5 days a week, I'm lucky to have a 2 day break..very light but totally inconvenient

I'm on my second one. Having the first fitted was a shock as it hurt like hell but took pain killers before having this one fitted so wasn't so bad.

A few days of spotting and cramps and nothing since, no pain and no periods, it's great!

how do you know if you be the bleeding kind or the ones lucky enough not to have periods again? Why can't we all react the same to it ?

Holy fuck, this thread is mad.

I had no idea of the pain and hassle some of you girls go through!

Can I apologise on behalf of all us guys living in ignorance of all of this?

I want going to have a drink tonight... But Sailor Jerry's pin up girl is winking at me now.

I've had one for 3yrs, would definitely recommend it. No periods for me since being fitted either. But not sure about how painful it was to be fitted as I had it put in under anesthetic.

It's got to be worth a try hasn't it. I know it doesn't suit everyone but for those it does (like me) it's fantastic, a couple of days of cramps and bleeding for 5 yearsfree of both!

Can't say it hurt coming out and if it doesn't suit you you'll know within weeks so have it removed. Can't say I've noticed a change in weight.

Horrendous!!! Was stunned by the amount of pain it caused being fitted as I have a very high pain threshold...

Bled constantly and was actually having contractions and on codeine for the month I tried to persevere with it

"Baby mirena" was delivered after a month of hell ( and removal was a doddle!!)
