Trip to another club

Jayne and I have thought about going to Chameleons in Darlaston, as well as a number of other clubs (i.e. The Office in Bristol etc). When we have mentioned this to friends on here, lots have said they would like to go too.
So this is just a speculative post about who might be interested in maybe getting together as a group, hiring a minibus, booking some rooms and taking an overnight trip somewhere.
I know there are lots of variables, plus there would be costs involved, but there are things we can do to cut these down a little.
I can drive a minibus (qualified PSV to 17 seater), so that might help, plus group bookings at travelodge etc can sometimes be fairly cheap.
At the moment, got no hard and fast date, or timeframe.... just thought I'd throw it out there, was inspired by ceri and tony's success with the camping trip and thought "nothing ventured, nothing gained" lol.
Any alternative ideas welcome, i.e. venues, travel options etc, but remember this is just a "shot in the dark" at the moment, just sounding people out.  |

If you were running a trip to The Office we would be def interested has its our fav club but not being able to drive we don't get there as much as we would like. |

Well, it will be either a Friday or Saturday night, and we will be planning well in advance, in order to try and smooth out any wrinkles.
Anyone who fancies it, let us know what dates you ARE NOT available, i.e. if you are away on hols, working etc.
Was thinking about June, or July.
Also possible to go up during the day, perhaps on a Saturday, drive up in morn, play all day, and head back late, negates the cost of accomodation.
Any alternative ideas happily considered. |

Update.
Accom...
B&B next door ish, £45 dbl room.... total of 4 rooms.
Local travelodge about 10 mins away by car/taxi. Usual prices approx £40-50.
Food...
Chams does basic "cafe" style food for £5.
Next door is a chinese all you can eat buffet.
KFC nearby.
You can pop out for grub, and pop back so long as you let chams know.
So far heard good things about fri & sat night, sat & sun daytime, so its just about when most can get sitters etc for.
Still waiting on costs for minibus. |

hiya sounds a great idea as we been wanting to try other clubs but wont on our own we happy to car share or minibus be good if we went sat overnight and maybe play sun to then head home teatimeish but just keep us posted would love to join you all

sounds good to us, we will be able to take G's car and can take 3 others if car share is the best option. Let us know the dates as we both work alternate weekends GnT |

Well, based on some rough ideas of costs, the minibus for self-drive hire looks to be coming out at somewhere between £10 and £15 a head (based on a 17 seater).
So a day trip for a couple would work out like this...
Club entry £25
Minibus £20 - 30
Food etc £30 - infinity lol
Total £75 - 85 ish.
And the car option...
Club entry £25
Car fuel £20 (£10 per person, 4 sharing)
Food etc £30
Total £75
Over night stay is going to set you back about £50, although you might get a much better deal at Travelodge if you book a family room and 4 share.
So, not much in it either way, comes down to personal choice.
Obviously plus or minus points for both ideas, i.e. being able to drink if you take the bus, or being able to decide when you want to go home if you take your car.
Let me know your views, or alternative ideas. |

Lol, no surprise there dai... are you a member of chams yet?
It can be a lot more expensive for single guys, and there is a waiting list for membership too.
But if you already a member, or get it done before we go, then its not a problem, and I know Jayne would love to see you there (nudge nudge, wink wink) lol! |

Right, more info has been provided by the great regulars at Darlos.
As we may have at least one single male in the group going, Sat nights are out, as they dont allow single guys after 7pm.
So only night available is Friday, which apparently is pretty busy.
Day trips, Sat and Sun are open, but the feedback suggests Sunday is favourite.

Some suggestions for dates....
June 11th-13th and 25th-27th.
July 9th-11th and 23rd-25th.
My preference... purely for selfish reasons, as its my birthday, is weekend of 9-11 July lol!! Happy to do either Fri night, or Sat/Sun daytime. I know its a while away, but it does give people to plan ahead, save up etc.... so get your diaries out and have a look!! |

More info to bear in mind...
Opening times and costs...
Friday - 11am to 3am.
Single males - £30
Cpls - £20 before 6pm, £25 after.
Single fems - £5
Sat - 12 noon - 4am.
(Single guys out at 7.30pm) we may have at least one single male in the group!!
Single males - £30
Cpls - £25 before 6pm,£30 after.
Single fems - £10
Sun - 2pm - 1am.
Single males - £30
Cpls - £20
Single fems - £5
All this tends to narrow down the options a bit, bearing in mind work, etc.
So, get your preferences in, and lets see what comes out when we total it all up!! |

Well, keep the ideas and names coming.
Another transport possible is to car-share, which might provide a little cost saving, have to check cost of minibus.
well mart, i got a cousin how is a mini bus driver.. got his own company, so i can find out some prices for ya if u want? xx |

Well a Sat night or Sunday is good for us and G will take his car if any other couple want to share. As for the date G works everyother weekend so best just say when and we will say if we can make it or not GnT |

we would be interested but need plenty of notice with work! fri coukd be difficult for baby sitter tho! if you go with car share we have a 7 seater so its a spare 5 for ne that wants to jump in |

Right..... after a lot of false starts and looking at our diary, we have set a date!!!
Saturday August 28th.
We will be taking a leisurely drive up, as they dont open til 12 noon, and having a nice lunch before booking into our hotel room, getting ready and sauntering over for a look-see.
We will probably go in about 4pm ish, and stay til we feel like its time to go!
Would be great to see you there, but have given up on trying to arrange something as it got way to complicated lol!
So, feel free to let us know if you are going, and we will see you there!! |
