Posted this very apt topic in the main forums last night and interested to hear what you Welshies have to say about it...
I (Mand) am currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. We did leave the site for a time when I was diagnosed and to allow recovery-time from surgery. But we rejoined a few weeks ago as we find the support from friends and strangers alike to be extremely helpful and therapeutic.
We would value your opinions on this topic folks. |

People find comfort in a whole variety of ways and situations. There is no right or wrong way.
As long as you are happy and find it helps, then it can lift spirits and speed up recovery.
Also takes your mind elsewhere, so you are not focused on the negative.
Big hugs xx |

As someone going through some long term health issues myself I've found the support from my Fab friends to be invaluable. Plus no matter how ill I might get its important to still feel feminine & desirable & my friends make me feel that x |

We have read all your responses with great interest. Thank you folks.
Some might say that when you're fighting something like cancer everything else shouldn't be important. But we've come to realise that having a medical condition doesn't change the person you are. Yes - while you are in the grips of your illness it might make you more tired, less horny, more irritable, less sexual.
But I (Mand) want to let people know there is life after - and during - breast cancer. And that I am still a woman with needs.
I now have a massive scar on my left breast which has left an even bigger scar on my confidence. And am waiting for my hair to start falling out any time soon.
But I am determined to fight this every step of the way...for myself and for all those who have suffered at the hands of this disease...those no longer with us and those who won their battle. I lost my own mother to leukemia some years ago so this is one battle I don't intend to lose.
Finally (thank God I hear you gasp haha) we wish to thank everyone who has supported us with their kind words, caring thoughts and heartfelt prayers. Without you guys this journey would be all the more difficult and scary. Don't know where we would be without our friends.
YOU PEOPLE ARE THE BEST. XXX |

Both Andy and myself suffer with ill health, Andy's is as a result of a car accident and mine is medical and the support we have had from Fab members has been amazing, couldn't have got through most of it without the support of our best friends who we have met here xx |

I have to say that having a positive attitude is wonderful! After all you are "living" with cancer. Live life to the full and appreciate the love and support from others. Loss of body image is a huge thing to go through but friends and family can help boost your confidence. Carry on and do what you feel is comfortable at each stage. Love and good wishes for a speedy recovery x x |

It never ceases to amaze us how many people are coping with an illness or disability and yet they don't let it blight their lives.
We take our hats off to you all for being such an inspiration. xxx |
