Hi reader this is Sean having a bit of a rant.

It has recently been brought to mine and Mand's attention that somebody or people have had cause to complain about the last Cardiff social and I am very eager to know what form these complaints take.

If someone was not happy about anything that evening, whether it was the venue or an incident that took place, it would have been courteous if you could have let us know first so that steps can be taken to prevent it from happening again.

As I can only guess at what the problem may have been I am going to take a stab at it.

1.If it was the choice of venue. This venue was not OUR preferred choice. Originally the Cardiff social was held at The Great Western but too many people whinged about the lack of bar staff and the time it took to get served. Also that the place was full of "vanillas". Swingers didn't know who was who. People wanted a private room so a more suitable venue was chosen. Zync seemed ideal as it was right opposite The G.W. so everyone knew where to go, and with a £100 deposit we could have the upstairs to ourselves.

2.The toilets and smoking were downstairs. PLEASE!!! It's hardly a trek.

3.Checklists.Don’t confuse this with the guestlist. Again this was nothing to do with us. The only people attending were members of Fab and so it wasn’t necessary to check people off a list once inside.

4. Name tags. Again this was not our idea. If people see someone they would like to get to know just introduce yourselves. Name tags are for nursery school.

5. Members of the public came upstairs later on in the evening. Unfortunately, after 1am this is to be allowed, the downside i suppose for having the room to ourselves from 8pm until 1am.

When Mand reads this she will no doubt give me shit.

It's a shame that not many people realise how much of Mand's time and effort went into organising the socials.

Lastly. There are people on here who we regard as very close friends,or so i thought, who have had to be pampered and cajoled into attending the Cardiff socials, often leaving it 'til the very last minute before deciding to attend. Imagine how hurt Mand was when these same people put their names down for the next social within the first day of it being posted.

Rant over.

Thank you to all who have sent kind words. But for those of you who have caused any upset it is unforgiveable.

Sean.

Hi, Lou and I think it was a fabulous night it was the first social we attended and were made very welcome, I would not worry about people moaning, you will always get that in what ever you do, i think you will see how much people enjoyed and appreciate how much you both put into these nights, you will probably get 99% positive and 1% moaners, but you usually find these people have something to say about everything that someone tries to do,and i have noticed this with some members throughout this forum, but are usually too lazy to get off their arses and do these things themselves.

So dont worry about them and keep up the good work, i know you are having a break at the mo but look forward to welcoming you back, there are a lot more of us good guys out there than the bad unns.

Take care

Tell Mands not to worry her head about anything hun. Everyone I have spoke to said they love the socials and they liked Zync. Sean the same people who moan about stairs in Zync are quite happy to go to Chams with well so many stairs there its like climbing everest, or even kilamanaroo to someone like me he he he. Let someone else do the hard work and take the grief now Mandy can just attend and enjoy hun.

Most of the complaint we were given were about the state of the toilets, which I must add were in a pretty poor state from very early in the evening, we had one couple even moaning about the price of drinks, as I stated to them at the time, both were beond your control. Yes there were quite a few complained about the stairs but as you said a vote was done and Zync came out the winner, we was happy to come no matter where it was, as we always enjoyed the night out.

I hope you feel better for getting that in the open? I hope that your decision to "take a break" was not because of the back biting that you speak of??

To the people who were moaning about things .... shame on you.... These people who organise socials do it off their own backs and I know from previous experience that it isn't easy..

I myself found it to be very busy and I have an issue with small spaces( no sarky comments please) so I took myself off to the corner where it didnt seem as busy. My night wasn't spoilt at all.. we had a great night and enjoyed meeting new people.

No one forces you to attend the socials.. what do you expect? Maybe if people put thier hands in there pockets and forked out for a private venue ie tenner a head you would have cause for complaint ... There is enough crap going on in the world at the moment to be moaning about a small things like the loos or stairs!!!!

I think the people who were moaning should have the bollocks or breasts to voice those remarks to your faces.. that's just my opinion .. or better still how about people take it in turns to organise the socials and then they will know from first hand experience the difficulties that can occur.

This post is not ment to cause offence I am just saying as I see it..

We are all adults..... lets behave like them

MrsP you have hit the nail right on the head, as we explained to Sean, no1 seems to complain until things are taken away from them, such as Mand's extraordnary ability to create a fab night for all to enjoy, we know these night take up most of your spare time, and then some, which is why the are reluctant to organise them for themselves. We swore we would never organise another social, but when told that mandnsean were taking a break, then being asked to take over the social until their return we agreed, but these are mands socials, and we are not taking over them for good, they will be handed back to her on their return, and if they wish us to assist them then we will.

Please hurry back the both of you as we miss you already xxxxxxx.

We had a fantastic night, as for the toilets yes they we're a mess, but it was a saturday night and it's par for the course. Mandy we know used every ounce of her obviously great ability to make it a fantastic night. As it has already been said some have to have something to moan about, to those sad people there are two ovious answers, prove you can do better, or dont come its simple. No body is forced to go to these events. The people we chatted danced and laughed with including Mandy and Sean, made the evening fly by. And finally remember this again it has been said before, there are plenty of people in the world who are worse off, so a few flights of stairs a dirty toilet, and a pricey pint are just a pimple on the arse of the world, get a life and be greatfull for having two great people who make the effort to organise a great night out and take the effort off you. mandy and sean we love you. Nicci and Paul.

Mand and Sean always put a lot of effort in to organising these socials and I have enjoyed every one I've attended since joining the site last March, March at The Gatekeeper being my first. It's not easy pleasing everyone and Mand knows my views regarding venues as we spoke about it at the social. Yes, the stairs are a pain at Zync, stairs, heels and alcohol are not a good mix (I took my flip flops). I have no problem mixing with vanilla and find the atmosphere at the Great Western good as everything is on one level and being a smoker I don't feel isolated. Myself and Joan always assist Mand in the promoting of the socials in the room (to regulars and newbies) and this will continue. I'm really sorry to hear that Mand has been upset by comments and hope that people keep on supporting the socials and enjoy them as much as I have. It's a great way to catch up with old friends and of making new ones. Mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mand n Sean

You cant please all the people all of the time, I didnt attend but have heard nothing but praise for the event

Dirty people make dirty toilets

I look forward to hearing from those who complained about any aspect of the social when they organise the next social themselves and know it will be perfect for all of the people all of the time of course

Seany babe, you have a good rant if you want hun,,we let ya,lol.

Dont let it worry you or mand hun,, it was a fantastic evening all round.

You will always get some people complaining, id like to see them doing all the hard work that you and mand put in so everyone can have great evening out,,its not easy to arrange and to keep everyone happy.

We travel all the way from Gloucester to attend your socials and we always have a great time,

In the Great Western you have stair to the toilets,, which were, a task to climb to heals,, the stairs in Zinc were a pain, but people knew there were stairs before they arrived, i had trouble with the stairs but theres a reason for that,, so if i manaqged the stairs ,, everyone could,,

Any complaints shouldve been brought to you or mands attention on the night and not days afterwards

You and mand did a great job of arrangeing things so please give yrself a rub on the back,, or front,( volunteer here ) lol,,

Dont stay away too long,, we miss ya hunnniiiiiiiii

luv ys both lots, see at the charity evening in june if not before

Cardiff

Good for you Sean!

I know how hard it is to organise things like socials (hooray for yacht clubs) and it really doesn't matter what you do, there will always be some tiny minded person ready to take a pop at the organisers. It's funny how they never volunteer to help to improve the next one, just snipe away in the background.

I was the one 'shouting' for name badges - as far as I am concerned it was a long standing-joke and blow me, we got name badges - and it did make me more confident to approach strangers to ask what their badge said. (I know, I am strange that way). Thank you for that and if they never appear again that is fine!

Venue, dirty bogs, flights of stairs - yeah, and? so what? Saturday night in Cardiff!!! We did enjoy the balcony view of the girls dancing (cleavage hmmmmm ooops sorry, this was supposed to be a serious reply).

Anyway, all we can say is ALL the socials we have been to have been brilliant. All have been organised by Mandy and Sean. Thank you so much to you both.

Expect an invite for boaty stuff as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer

Shame on the moaners.

Hi Mand & Sean ,

Have to say that we`ve been lucky enough to have been at the last 2 Cardiff socials in Zync and have had the most amazing time at both ! Have to also agree with everyone that has said there will always be a few who`ll complain no matter what . As for the loos - the girls loo was ok , but the boys ( well we all know they can`t even aim straight when they`re at home let alone out ) ultimately am sure it`s the same in any bar/club toilet in town on a Saturday night ! lol

Thanks both for all the effort that you`ve put into organising them , it really is appreciated . Hope we see you both back soon . xxxxxx

I think its all been covered, but just thought we would echo what has already been said anyway.

Mand and Sean do a fantastic job of organising socials, but it would be impossible to please all of the people every time. Some people would moan no matter how things turned out, but they would never put themselves forward with solutions to any of their gripes.

We have been to socials at four venues, and each one had its plus and minus points, but at the end of the day its not the place, its the people, and thats where Mand and Sean score 100%!!

It speaks volumes about how well repected you both are that Rich and Joan have stepped in when asked, even though they always said they would never do another one. We would love to see you both there, who else are we going to go for a kebab with at silly o'clock in the morning?

Hi Mand and Sean ..... I would like to echo all of the comments made.

You did a fantastic job and I had a brill night and look forward to the next one wherever it is.

I always appreciate anyone who organises any social event as there are so many things to think about and so many people to please. If anyone has any complaints then they should come forward and nail their colours to the mast either that or shut up!

As for drinks prices, it's Cardiff ffs! What do you expect?

Thank you both once again for a great night, my second Cardiff social and I'm soooo looking forward to the next one.

Come back soon Mand and Sean, hope you at least attend the next social so you can relax and really enjoy it.

For anyone who moans...... bollocks to you, if you don't like it, stay at home! I loves it I do!

I ave only attended 2 cardiff social one in the GW and the other in Zinc and i can honeslty say that iv'e enjoyed both so wot i had to go downstairs to have a fag thats my choice.

I went to enjoy myself and that i did.

I know it’s all been said in the umpteen messages above but I’m going to say my bit too!

Mand and Sean work very hard to make our social meets a good event for all and put their heart and soul into doing this! I’ve too often seen mand n sean run ragged trying to make everyone feel welcome and make sure no one is left in a corner alone they go out their way to try to introduce people to others so that they don’t feel the odd one out! Aren’t they intituled to a good night too? I know neither of them would ever moan about anything because their hearts are so good they too wouldn’t want to upset anyone! It was nice to see a few others joining in to help mand n sean out at the social and I have always told both anything they need doing n I would be there!

As for little gripes about name badges etc OMG what is wrong with you! I quite often go to socials and get asked who that is and what are their names on fab? So what was the dam problem with popping your name on your chest for a bit of a giggle and for others to be able to put faces to names! I think it’s childish that anyone would moan about it! And at the end of the day like many did you could have taken em off.

As for toilets go into any club or pub in a big city like Cardiff and towards the end of the night they are going to get messy! Mostly because d*unk ppl don’t give a shit about what mess they make! It is not mand or seans job to be cleaning out bogs just in case someone had a little gripe!

And finally the venue! Unless ur willing to pay for a private room, dj, extra staff and security that does not come cheap! How can you moan? You get a good night out with some lovely people. Ye it may not be the perfect venue in your eyes but u pay for what u get! Can you do better? And who cares if the venue isn’t 100% when your surrounded be lovely loving and friendly people and have a great laugh.

I’m not just saying this because mand and sean mean sooooooo much to me, Oh and they do! They are one of the most wonderful couples I know and if I was to be in a loving relationship I’d want it just to be like there’s! But I do this because I know how much hard work they have both put into these socials for US! Of their own free will! I think they should get every thanks from all of us who have enjoyed their nights out in the past and will no doubt enjoy them in the future!

As for those that cannot be pleased! Do me a favour and don’t attend! We don’t want ppl around that just want to moan and upset others!

Aren't you lot just the loveliest bunch of people in existence? Sean couldn't rest til he had his rant and got that lot off his chest, bless him. And all I can say is I'm sooo relieved no one was offended by it cos it was just my lovely man sticking up for me...which is not something I'm good at doing for myself.

Ty ty ty a million times guys. Your lovely messages warmed the cockles of our hearts.

See you all soon. Mand n Sean. xxxxxxxx

Swansea-ish

Fair play to Sean for getting it off his chest and also to Mand for organising what I hear to be a brilliant social(as always).

As (most of) you know I have never attended a Cardiff social (for my own reasons) but I know from reports that they have always been well received, and if I may say, Mand herself has tried to persuade me to attend many times.

All I know is that this couple are the most Friendly, Generous, Giving and Honest people I know! and for this subject to have to be brought up makes me think they aren't appreciated for what they do.

hi sean, it was our 1st social and we were very nervous but would have been even more nervous having to go in to just a pub and not knowing who was from fab. it was a good venue and a very good night. as a newbie we find it better to go to somewhere which has a private room as we know we are all there from this site. you will never please every 1 all the time, all you can do is your best. some people just like to moan lol tell mand thanks for organising it hope to see you at the next social mart and rhi xxxxx

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU once again for all the messages of support received on here and to us privately. Can't say enough how much that means to us...and I include Sean in that.

Please also be aware that the reason for our break is not linked to the social but the fact that we have other, more pressing worries, to cope with at the moment.

Once we get those sorted I hope we'll be back with big smiles on our faces. I, for one, miss you all like crazy and could never stay away for too long. Seems I need my regular dose of Fab hehe.

Take care all you lovely people of Fab and catch you all soon. xxxxxxxx
