I hide mine because of personal reasons, I've been on the scene for some time and like to view potential meets when life gets in the way.
Throwing a strop in the forums because you can't view the persons profile wont do you wont favours |

You can still mail someone if their profile is hidden. I can't understand what the problem is if all they did was look at your profile. Why block them for doing that?! |

Various reasons...illness? Taking a break? Recent facebook drama? Seen someone they kniw? Recoiling from abusive messages? Take your pick.
Not exactly a big deal, just move on.  |

People choose to hide their profile for a variety of reasons.....it's their choice to do that.
As for people looking at your profile....there's probably people who look who you can't see have looked, do you have an issue with that?

thats what we do. hidden profiles shouldnt be able to view your profile or message really in our opinion. if they can view our and message its only fair its on even terms so we can do the same. |

That's a different kettle of fish. You said looked at your profile in your opening post. I understand what you're getting at now. Id ask them to show their profile if they mailed me or no further contact. Ive had winks from hidden profiles which was pointless  |

When I was pregnant we hid our profile as we weren't meeting we still liked using the forums though and would often check out the profile of new posters, not because we wanted to meet them because we are nosey and because we can!
In the past week you have started/commented on 12 threads. Maybe people are just interested in learning more about you, doesn't mean they want to meet you!
If they are sending friends requests with a hidden profile either ignore or ask them to make it public for a bit so you can check it out  |

EXACTLY TAA DAAH that is the whole point, mail costs nothing and all you need do is ask if you can view a profile, surely no hardship?
Saph has her own profile as a single fem, and as is her right, she hides it due to the unwanted attention of couples and single guys. When she has mail or if someone she likes asks her whilst in chat then she will open up her profile. Another reason is if you have attracted a stalker, surely if this was you being stalked you would close your own profile?
Ultimatly, at the end of the day it will get dark, hiding profiles or not is personal preference, discretion and all about being in your comfort zone.

We hide our profile sometimes. Several reasons for this. For periods when we are unable to meet it saves other couples mailing us for us to say ,sorry cant meet at the moment. Face book scare!We still look at other peoples profiles just to see who they are and if we'd poss meet in the future. Then when the time comes we open the profile and get in touch. No harm in that. |
