Merthyr Vale

We're staying in Cardiff for a couple of days next week. Can you suggest a few cool places to visit? Double points for great food places!

Go to the comedy club down the bay.

All the big stars use it as a material test so you get a meal and laughs at the same time

If you like japanesse food, or willing to try it, then Yakitori1 down mermaid quay is very good. It's also much more that just sushi.

Make sure to ask the staff to get a selection of drinks, but don't get all sake.

If you go to Alcatraz, remember to take your own drink. Gaucho or pasture if you are a steak lover - both highly recommended !

NQ64 on St Mary street is good it has all retro video games including guitar hero and a dance machine loads of different games. It does good cocktails in there as well. Its something different to your standard bar.

If you like steak, Miller and Carter, in the Hayes.

Cardiff

Loads of great unique food and drink places in the centre of town: Vermut, Curado, Bar 44, Asador 44, La Pantera, Nighthawks, Bacareto, Pasture, Six by Nico, Potted Pig, Cafe Citta etc.

All a cut above your usual places
