Whenever I'm home I always go to xkeys to watch the game but as for the regions I have to say the games are poor!! It's not cheap to watch the dragons. Yes the double header is a good day and il be there!! |

West Wales and Cardiff |
Bloomin heck - that's a huge area you're delving into there!
There's a lot of factors. Two of them for starters is the fact that it's a rubbish league with the Irish sides, in particular, playing their second string teams because the players are centrally contracted to the IRFU. Compare a Munster or Leinster side for the Rabo league with a Heineken Cup fixture - its unrecognisable usually.
The standard is poor, games are turgid and referring is not good either.
Perhaps the main ones is the regions though. The whole set up was piecemeal and ill thought out. You have four regions witg home grounds within 70 miles of each other and Cardifd/Newport and Ospreys/Scarlets are about 15 miles. Essentially, you have two regions fighting over the same customers, particularly in the West.
Also, rugby supporters north of the m4 were written out of the story snd it was a hotbed of support.Pontypridd fans always saw Cardiff as their rivals and now they are asked to support the Cardiff Blues. They don't like that - rightly or wrongly.
CCFC and SCFC are recognised, established entities. When I used to watch the former 12 years ago they used to get 3,000 mind - success helps a lot.
I go to watch the Scarlets, but the fare in offer is not good and won't attract a new generation of fans. A Heineken cup final might breed success. It happened in Ireland with Leinster after they did well in Europe.
All very complicated and tarred with old rivalries etc. |

i gave up going to watch the dragons play as the ticketing has become too expensive...gone are the days when you could take the family to watch local rugby without a bank loan lol
think the blues are the cheapest at the mo tho. |

The point is how come more people wacth club football then rugby if its a money thing then it dont add up as football is more expensive but people who watch cardiff, swansea and even newport who arnt in the league find the money and time. |
