What serens2 said remember its an open environment they see people come and go all the time just walk right past them, its their job to sit behind the desk not to follow you to your room

yeah its always a bit off putting but just glide on by, they are used to it and as the others have said their job is to sit at reception not escort you to your room. Tip...if your not staying the night and dont want the embarrasment of handing the key back as you leave with " we have just had a three some" written across your face....just leave the key in the room they collect in the morning

Bridgend

Some hotels are easier than others. Premier Inn in Bristol was a pain as they had a swipe system and asked for names and room numbers on our return. Most of the older ones are so much easier just walk straight in or provide room number to whoever is meeting you. Days Inn in Bridgend is easy and have smoking rooms too as does Etap in Cardiff. Have had plenty of experience with hotel meets and only had a problem in Bristol.

be mindfull that many hotels lock the doors around 11pm and the night porters have to let you in which means they ask names and room numbers or expect you to request/have your key or booking reciept.

Most fire doors in hotels are alarmed so beware if you plan on sneaking someone in, and many corridoors have CCTV in operation.

Other than that, look confident like you belong there.

Room occupiers should be carefull when using the late night bar or ordering room service as only residents are allowed to use these facilities and reception/night porters may get suspicious.
