I just saw a status update that made a joke about a condition that is probably out of someone's control. I politely pointed this out to them and surprisingly (not) they blocked me.
Is it a case that behind a keyboard certain people become emboldened to bully and demean or are they like this in real life as well?
Personally, I think that a bit of thought before posting a potentially distressing status update would be the descent/kind thing to do. |

It’s the nature of the internet.
The relative anonymity provided by being behind a keyboard can lead to people being more critical, cruel or racist (among other things)…
… my belief is that these tend to be the actual views/attitudes of the people in question, they don’t show them as much in public because they know they’d be (quite rightly) chastised, challenged or actually punished if they were this awful in real life.
If people find it easy to be awful online, then they’re actually an awful person in real life that may just be good at hiding it |
