Primary Syphilis
By Ted Rosen, MD | December 20, 2012
Dr Rosen is Professor of Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine and Chief of the Dermatology Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, both in Houston, Texas.
A 17-year-old woman noted a gradually increasing, asymptomatic “sore” on her lower lip.
Key point: The patient was sure that this was merely a chancre sore, but became alarmed when the lesion failed to resolve after several weeks. This painless, indurated ulcer is typical of the chancre of primary syphilis. She also had palpably enlarged submental and submaxillary lymph nodes and a positive RPR in a titer of 1:32. She admitted to multiple episodes of oro-genital contact with different partners within the past 3 months; this led to an extra-genital chancre.
Treatment: Primary syphilis was treated with intramuscular benzathine penicillin (2.4 milion units).
Note: Aside from referral to the county health department for contact tracing, the patient was also offered, but refused, HIV testing.

"What point are you trying to make by starting this thread? Is it going to followed up by ones on gonorrhea and chlamydia as you have posted another similar topic?"
just passing info on that i receive through my work its meant to be educational not offensive and i thought forums are for discussion and information i done the others a few months ago when durex became unreliable as a safe condom and the nhs dropped the issue of new ones they use htc products now

Buy if you asked.how many get regular check.ups you will fund the majority do (well the majority of forum posters lol)
It's something people are very aware of but this isn't a medical forum so dint see the need to post pictures of a medical nature |
