I posted about this in another thread, but it got me thinking and I wondered what peoples thoughts were.
Basically, do we need 2 message boards for Wales?
North and South Wales are almost 200 miles apart, with little inbetween except mountains, albeit beautiful ones
Whilst I am a proud Welshman and definitely regard Cymru - North, South, East and West - as one country (which should be independent, but that's for another thread) I can't help thinking that we either need separate North and South Wales boards on here, or the North West one gets renamed to be North West and North Wales.
Most of the topics on this board are South Wales related, as are most of the responses. I'm not moaning about it, it's a natural consequence of the population distribution.
It's the same with the meets search tool. North Wales and South Wales would be better.
Us Gogs are much more likely to hit Chester, Liverpool and Manchester than Cardiff or Newport, and generally we're going to go to Townhouse or Cupids, not Chams.
"Wales" as a single geographical entity on here doesn't really work IMHO.
I'm sure the Scots and Irish feel the same way about their boards.

"Exactly the comparison you make! We are closer to many parts of England, than we are to parts of North Wales. It's crazy!"
Yes, indeed. I wouldn't want anyone to read my original post and think I want to disassociate myself from South Wales. But for Fab purposes "Wales" makes little practical sense. |

West Wales and Cardiff |
"There is Scotland, Ireland, Wales and London in terms of specific boards, so nobody really gets a local one."
Yeah. In many ways, we’re lucky to have the Wales forum. It smacks of “England is the default” in some ways, but the with the smaller constituent parts of the UK being recognised, we kind of come out of it better than members in England.
I do wonder how some in Northern Ireland feel about that arrangement. |

There is no forum for south west england and id say that would be a higher need than a divided wales forum.
Just because there are more posts to do with south wales as the population density is higher, there is nothing stopping north, west, or mid wales putting forum posts up ? |

"As one of the geographical ignorant people I think this is a great idea North Wales and South Wales at least then have an idea of distance Good luck x"
Please note, this was aimed specifically at admin
PR often refers to Pembrokeshire, as Portsmouth haha

Totally correct, to get from Cardiff to Caernarfon is a 5 hour drive! You could drive from Cardiff to Newcastle in nearly the same time |
