So, I went on a date a few days ago and the lady I met looked nothing like the person in the photos. (I know everyone chooses their best ones and uses filters etc) but this was like a totally different person!
How would you guys and girls deal with this? Would you be brutally honest from the start? See the date through? Ghost them?!

I would very tactfully tell them that you feel somewhat deceived.
If its a date with the potential to progress towards a relationship then honesty is imperative from the start.
Using a different face picture or one that’s 15 years old is dishonest and that dishonestly sets the precedence for the entire relationship.
I’m interested to know if you fancied the woman that did turn up though lol

So I arrived at the venue and as a lady walked towards me she waved. I ignored it as I didn't recognise her.....waved again so made sure it was me she was waving to! And yes, it was me! She introduced herself and I was pretty suprised at just how different she looked! Long and short of the scenario is we had a meal and a drink but she was a completely different person! I did not fancy her whatsoever in person! |

Be honest, I had a meet when I was single on here, the face pic was of a clean shaven guy, the guy who turned up had a goatie down to his belly button ... I got back in my car and went home |

I was out shopping a good few years ago and agreed to meet a guy for a social
He described what he was wearing and the bench he was sitting on
He was at least 15 years older and 10 stone heavier than the individual in the photos he had sent me
I blocked him and drove off
How he thought I wouldn't notice the difference or at least that I wouldn't care was quite bizarre |

This is why I tend to have a low pressure coffee date as a first date, I'm not a fan of having to sit through a meal if we're clearly incompatible. |

Been in this exact position
I tactfully told her that the very act was deeply unattractive as it belied a total lack of confidence, and a person uneasy with themselves. How could she get other people to accept and find her attractive if she couldn’t?
I paid the drink tab and left |

Exactly my rationale for a coffee in a neutral place, but it seems to be getting harder to find guys who will do this X |

You have to be honest.
I once waited in a bar for a guy who was meant to be 6ft, he walked in all of 5ft 3inch whilst I sat whistling "Hi ho, Hi ho"
Mean I know, shamefully so, but funny |

Weirdly though I've never had an issue from this site! I run a mile from a filter on here! This was a dating app and the pics looked pretty good (not heavily filtered or anything) Ah well, lesson learned and I'll be sticking to an afternoon cuppa from now on! X |

Its a tough one but id never ghost or just block its cruel. Just be up front and honest and politely say thanks for meeting but youre not my type.
Theres not need to be rude or nasty imho. |

Not everyone uses their best photos, I have mine which are up to date and show the progress of my tattoos too, I would never put up pics that misrepresented me. It's not right, would never catfish anyone, and if someone or people do that and expect not to be called out on it then that's wrong too. Don't get me wrong, wouldn't about it for all to hear but would certainly say that they aren't the person they put across. |

Don't get me wrong, I use angles for my pics as we want to look our best. When I send a face pic, its me. Id love to use a filter and look 10 years younger but whats the point, Im only kidding myself. It sucks but honesty is def the best policy. No point tricking someone as you will only make yourself feel worse anyway. X |

deepest, darkest West |
I usually insist on a photo taken the day of, and I always send a photo on the day to remind people what I look like.
Not going to lie, sometimes people haven't showed, but I'd like to think it's because they are tits rather than my face |

Friend of mine (genuine friend and not me I swear) lol was telling me about his experiences on grinder.
He always asked for a face pic with a clock showing the current time in the background so he knew it was there and then.
Had a meet from here personally where I was meeting a shaved, no Facial haired, very slim and toned 35yr old cd /tv….. arrived at the house to find a guy who looked the spitting image of Gandalf from LotR except easily a 50+ inch waist…… (I’m no spring chicken don’t get me wrong but my pics are of me at least!!)….. literally thanked him for his offer and left |
