Spoke to the lovely lady in question last night, she has got things in hand and her initial date for this the venue has something on. She is very much actively trying to get something in place soon though so rest assured she is doing all she can

I was looking at Thursday 27th for blackwood social but there is an event at the venue.

Which means I am looking at the week before and Thirsday 20th. I finish work on 19th so was hoping the later but if everyone is up for 20th I will do my best to make it happen.

Failing that, I'll stick the kids in a hotel and u can all pop to mine haha.

I have around 10 spaces left for the social.

I would like definites by 16th.

I understand life happens at last minute but if its a not sure then ur name will not be added I'm afraid.

It will be this way until restrictions are lifted as don't want to get owners in the poop if there were to be an inspection.

A lovely crowd so far so thank you for returning or making it ur first visit.

It's going ahead as there is a limited number of people allowed in a venue.

Well it would be unreal if we had more than the number allowed. ??

We are sticking to regulations..

2 meters apart. No more than 6 per table and table service.

Ur events can still go ahead if u stick to the correct numbers.

Another suggestion maybe.

Have a few events of 30 people. That way every one still gets to go.

Maybe not all together but, at least it can still go ahead that way...

I think at end of Jan they are loosening the restrictions. X

Hilarious cause I've counted more than 30 on the thread alone and no doubt there is people who've private messaged.

Places are getting reported for and threatened with being shut down cause events advertised on these forums. Forums are public and can be viewed by general public, including trading standards, police and EHO

Not sure why a couple of people are getting uptight? This was an open invitation by the organiser, so everyone had the same opportunity to attend, and they’ve explained from the start that rules will be adhered to.

Look elsewhere on this forum for other socials and you’ll see how many of these work - people will commit initially, then drop out closer to the date, through cold feet, commitments, whatever. A social with 30 people is hardly beyond reason.

Here’s my suggestions: -

1 - be happy for those that are going and wish them all the best.

2 - Put your own name down next time and have fun, instead of moaning about it.

As an organiser myself that's had to cancel an event because of restrictions I think I'm entitled to an opinion. Especially on event still going ahead who had by far more than 30 on the thread and I know the majority that went last exceeded 30 (have ears to the ground see

) so I have no doubt similar will attend this one.

Far enough if I'm wrong and less than 30 attend then I'll hold my hands up but as I'm friends with few that's going I know no doubt will be told

Let's hope the people/person that has been reporting other events that are advertised doesn't report this one! They seem to have a way of finding out where the venues are to a few socials not just club events

Been reading this and wasn't going to say anything but I left the Swansea social tonattend this one as it was her first time organising and said I'd attend. The numbers there were myself, the organiser, 2 more single males ( one of which came with a couple ) and 6 couples. And the 2 bar staff. So in total 18 people I even said this when I was asked about how it went a few days after attending.

I know, I remember your hubby doesn't like karaoke. I have an impeccable memory and when I read that it was said by someone who attended it was in excess of 30 I had to say something as it certainly wasn't.

Even if they had let the 2 lads that tried to gatecrash ( didn't though ) it still would have only been 20.

To be fair, as much as we’re all done with covid nonsense - don’t be arranging ‘socials’ that don’t adhere to advice given by government.

All they do is get cancelled by the police. Yes the police! Not fab! At least wait until it’s cool to do so.

And don’t be bashing opinions of others. What’s the point.

We’ll soon be out of ‘rules’ and we can all enjoy again.

Postpone for a while so more can enjoy.

Because there’s definitely more than 30 on a list here and everybody can see this thread. Even non/members. Setting yourself up for trouble, much like those who’ve tired to host events.
